I recently replayed Sonic Heroes on PC with Brandondorf9999's Console Restoration mod and it seemed to fixed a lot of the missing or broken effects from the PC version instead of dealing with the trail and error of hex editing each offsets to restore them without breaking the executable from working.
Talk:Sonic Heroes
I made my own updated fork of Brandondorf9999's Console Restoration mod a few months ago that adds even more fixes that have been made shortly after that mod was released. I wanted to upload it somewhere, but the file-size is very large (3.5 GBs) and last time I tried uploading large archives on PCGW, it didn't work. Just wondering if there's any interest in it, since I don't know if it's worth uploading it or not to me.
I wouldn't mind checking this updated fork out to see how well that works. Could it be possible to upload it in a site that allows for multi-part downloads? Out of curiosity, does your fork include the Xbox FMVs? Considering those take up a lot of space compared to the original PC version's FMVs, I'd imagine the bulk of the file size is contributed to the FMV files.
So no download for this updated version of Console Restoration?
I'd also be interested in the updated version as well, tried and failed applying anything regarding hex myself so this would be very helpful if it's true.
Also Interested in this, why don't you upload if to gamebanana? those hex values makes me dizzy
I've managed to manually patch my executeable with all of the documented fixes, works flawlessly lemme know if anyone wants a download to that.
First of all thank you for maintaining this page; I have so much on my hands that any kind of help is thankful.
I noticed that there was removal and re-addition of a section between these two commits recently:
https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/w/index.php?title=Sonic_Heroes&oldid=1017396 https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/w/index.php?title=Sonic_Heroes&oldid=1018116
I would just like to leave a note. The game follows a "best 2 out of 3" format. The game not playing a 3rd stage if a player wins twice in a row is intended behaviour.
Therefore I'm not sure if that section is actually a fix. It's more of a mod if anything. It might be more fitting to move that to SCHG on Sonic Retro; or if really needed I could make a standalone mod.
I was trying out the Japanese voice mod and the Xbox cutscenes mod but for some reason the game's FMV cutscenes the voices are still in English when in-game the voices are Japanese.
This page has a lot of fixes for small, specific graphical issues. I assume Brandondorf9999 is creating them since he adds them without citations. I would like to suggest that all of these fixes should be packaged together like the Sonic Adventure DX: Fixed Edition mod or BetterSADX.
It would make the wiki page cleaner, and users wouldn't be expected to know how to use a hex-editor.
wat
like, what am I even supposed to do, what does all that mean? help
That wall of text seems to be by Brandondorf9999 so I guess only he knows at this point.
I'm guessing those are values to search for with hex editor or cheat engine, but by not having the game and without any references this seems like impossible job.
Want me to have a look? :3
There's nobody to stop you :p
So it was offsets in exe file. Theoretically I could easily write a tool for changing the multiplier, but I don't see many people using it, so I won't.
I have used HxD hex editor to edit the questionable float. It's because all field of view floats are hard-coded into the executable for the effect.
