Decided to take the discussion here.
If I decide to disable game vsync the game run at the proposed 60 fps, okay actually 55, but whatever. If I enable it, there is no physics change what so ever. The only thing is that the game runs more smoothly. If I enable the vsync the game runs noticeably much smoother than with it off, and at a higher framerate. In short, if I disable the game's vsync it runs like absolute horseradish.

I can agree on the matter that without vsync it doesn't run optimally as internal limiter actually limits the game under 60 for some reason :\

Enabling vsync without any external changes actually allows game to go beyond 60 which introduces some input lag as well as minor stuttering, if I disable that vsync externally allowing game to run as fast as it can it stutters in really major way!

Physics won't change as physics and renderer are locked to 60 FPS instead of tied into frame rate. This means you can render more frames but everything is still just 60 FPS internally which causes that stuttering when fixed 60 FPS are send as variabling number and then put to fixed number again. You can confirm this using StrobeLight or similar.

I had 60Hz monitor at the time before they fixed that but there seemed to be major game breaking issues before they released that cap and just told that proper fixing would mean rewriting whole engine... Now if I disable that cap I can play but with that stuttering, input lag and tearing! Capping frame rate with Nvidia Inspector and vsync enabled gives the best results.
