How to obtain a digital copy of Halo 2?

I really want to play this game, and eventually mod it, how would I legally obtain a digital version of this game for the PC?

Yilku1 (talkcontribs)

I don't think you can for the original game, but you can buy Halo 2: Anniversary.

Yup, Halo 2: Anniversary is the only copy available digitally. The original Halo 2, released in 2007, was released on retail discs. It might've also at one point been available through the Games for Windows - LIVE Marketplace, but that service shut down in 2013.

As for copies of the original retail version, there might be some available on thrift stores or other outlets specializing in old games. I picked up my copy like 2-3 years ago from one of those, anyway.

Games for Windows live ought to be removed

GFWL is now totally defunct and has been for quite some time. Project Cartographer is now the only way to reliably play this game. All instances of GFWL should be removed and replaced with a tutorial on how to delete any instances produced by the game DVD.

Garrett (talkcontribs)

Project Cartographer only applies to online play. GFWL features still work for single player and LAN play, so there is no reason to omit this information.
