Essential improvements

Skip intro videos

Console command men_bShowIntroCutscene[2]
  1. Run the game and open the console (~).
  2. Enter command men_bShowIntroCutscene=0.

Allowing other players to join a hosted server with mods

Console command net_bSubscribedItemsChecking
This command only needs to be run by the host player. Not setting this can cause clients to get their game stuck in a boot loop. Clients joining the server must have all the required mods installed locally.
  1. Run the game and open the console (~).
  2. Enter command net_bSubscribedItemsChecking=0.
  3. Rehost the server.

See High dynamic range (HDR).
Three different options menus are present for CPU Settings, GPU Settings, and GPU Memory (VRAM) settings, as well as basic resolution settings.

High dynamic range (HDR)

Enable HDR output through in-game console[3]
  1. Start the game.
  2. Open game console using ~.
  3. Type gfx_bHDROutput=1 and press Enter.
  4. Type gfxRestart() and press Enter to apply changes.

Change menu appearance

Game has dynamic menu system, that changes menu's appearance based on the installed DLCs. By default, those can't be changed manually.
Modify UserCfg.lua[4]
  1. Go to the <path-to-game> and open UserCfg.lua with any text editor.
  2. At the end of the file add gt_strGameTitle = "<name_of_the_game>";.
  3. In place of <name_of_the_game> write one of the following arguments (without quotation marks):
"SeriousSam2017" - Default Fusion Theme
"SeriousSam3" - Serious Sam 3 Theme
"SeriousSamHD" - The First Encounter Theme
"SeriousSamHD_TSE" - The Second Encounter Theme

and save the file.

Mouse Acceleration

The game defaults to raw input, which does not support mouse acceleration. In game this is shown in the mouse options by having the Mouse Acceleration option greyed out. Raw input can be toggled by editing SeriousSam2017.ini.

Edit SeriousSam2017.ini[citation needed]
  1. Open SeriousSam2017.ini in the configuration file location using a text editor.
  2. Change the following line to toggle raw input (Change to = 0 to disable): inp_bRawInput = 1; _(version="2")
  3. With raw input off, mouse acceleration will still be disabled by default. Use the following console command entry to enable: prj_bMouseAcceleration=1

Notes:

  • The game does save most console commands to the .ini, but not this one. It also seems to ignore it in startup scripts, so there is no way to save this functionality, the command will need to be run again after every startup.
  • If the game crashes it tends to revert SeriousSam2017.ini to "safe" settings, which includes reverting any changes like the above. Setting SeriousSam2017.ini to read-only can prevent this.

"Just a heads up on Serious Sam Fusion 2017: disabling the Software Mixer to use OpenAL Soft's HRTF also seems to disable reverb. Parts that I know had reverb originally (like the opening platforming section in the 2nd Palenque level in TSE) were dry. I'll have to do more testing on this, but it's just something that's worth noting."
