Issues unresolved

Broken hardware renderer

The hardware renderer is broken on modern operating systems, causing severe graphical corruption and depth buffer problems. Using dgVoodoo 2 helps these issues partially, but does not fix the depth errors. A patch by Dege which improved the depth buffer problems to some extent is available in this Vogons thread.

Crash when switching to the Voice-over-Net settings

When switching through the settings tabs, the Voice-over-Net tab causes the game to crash or freeze on modern systems. Some users report that running the game in Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode prevents this.

Notes

  1. 1.0 1.1 When running this game without elevated privileges (Run as administrator option), write operations against a location below %PROGRAMFILES%, %PROGRAMDATA%, or %WINDIR% might be redirected to %LOCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore on Windows Vista and later (more details).
  2. 2.0 2.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/32630/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (32630) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
