Company of Heroes 2 is a singleplayer and multiplayer bird's-eye view and free-roaming camera RTS game in the Company of Heroes series.

As was the case with the first game, all players have the same files in their installations - purchasing the base game and/or standalone expansions determines which content is available to each player.

Multiplayer is cross-platform between OS X and Linux only.[2]

Version differences

The Master Collection includes the base game, all standalone expansions, and three mission packs (Case Blue, Southern Fronts, Victory at Stalingrad). Other minor DLC is not included.

Monetization

Type Notes
DLC Minor DLC includes cosmetics, alternate commanders and small campaigns. All of these except the campaigns also can be earned in-game via random loot drops (which can not be purchased with real money).
Expansion pack The expansion packs are advertised as standalone releases that are mutually compatible online with the base game and each other. In reality, they are the same game with different segments available to the player, but with all files on all players' computers. Full access to all content requires ownership on the player's Steam account, but no further downloads are required.
One-time game purchase The game requires an upfront purchase to access. The base game includes multiplayer access to the Soviet Union and Ostfront factions, and a singleplayer campaign.
