Video settings[edit]

Graphics option Option Notes
Widescreen resolution
See Widescreen resolution.
Multi-monitor
Ultra-widescreen
4K Ultra HD
Field of view (FOV)
2D Isometric game, the camera does show more of the playfield at higher resolutions.
Windowed
See Windowed.
Borderless fullscreen windowed
Use Borderless Gaming (after you turn on Windowed mode)
Anisotropic filtering (AF)
n/a
Anti-aliasing (AA)
n/a
Vertical sync (Vsync)
Can cause stuttering. Recommended to cap frame rate instead, use nvidia inspector or this d3d9.dll, 65fps works well on a 60hz LCD.
60 FPS and 120+ FPS
Frame rates up to 120 work fine. Modern machines can run this game at 1000+ FPS, however very high (~200+) frame rates will cause bugs such as broken camera control and more.

Widescreen resolution[edit]

Set the desired resolution in configuration files[citation needed]
  1. Go to <path-to-game>\maps\
  2. Open CONST.LGC.
  3. Find the following lines:
    static int RT_SCREEN_X[] = { 800, 1024, 1024, 1024};
    static int RT_SCREEN_Y[] = { 600, 768, 576, 640 };
  4. Change one of the resolutions to the desired value - for example changing 800 and 600 to 1920 and 1080.
  5. Go to the configuration file location.
  6. Go into saves
  7. Edit _global.dat.
  8. Find the lines iScreenX and iScreenY and change them to the desired resolution matching the one above.
  9. Set the resolution in the game options to the one you changed, for example 800x600.

Notes

When you change the resolution the menu background will display incorrectly (anchored on the bottom right in original res), however the menu itself and game work and display correctly (centered, limited to 1024x768 in size). Also note higher resolutions can give you an advantage as they will indeed show more of the game area and allow you to shoot further, though this game is incredibly difficult on the higher settings so it's not really an unfair advantage.

Windowed[edit]

Manually change the setting[citation needed]
  1. Go to the configuration file location.
  2. Open _global.dat.
  3. Find iFullScreen and change it to 0.
  4. Change the resolution using these steps.

Notes

  1. 1.0 1.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/33110/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (33110) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
