Rayman Origins system requirements

1
Quiet Bob (talkcontribs)

Hey there, fellow fixer! The official Ubisoft support site (Europe) https://support.ubi.com/en-GB/faqs/000015630/System-Requirements-for-Rayman-Origins/ - as well as most retail releases - lists the AMD CPU requirement simply as "AMD Athlon™ 3000". Since it is common practice for publishers to use an "AMD equivalent" of an explicitely stated Intel CPU, I assumed it to be the Athlon XP 3000+, which was released around the same time as the Pentium 4 3.0 GHz. I see now the the US support site list this CPU as "Athlon64 3000+". Both sites, however, list 2.5 GB HDD space as a minimum. Anyway, no biggie :)

My edit on the Morrowind page.

Hey there. I made an edit on the Morrowind page, and you reverted it. I'm not angry or anything, but I just want to know, why? I think that the fact that, quoting from the page, " The game requires 3rd party patches to fix game breaking issues." is a bad thing, and so I think that should be a bad point. Sure, it's not too hard to download the patch and fix it, but the points are about the base game, and I think the issues in the base game, no matter how easy they are to fix or work around, are a negative point, especially when we're talking about a game as buggy as Morrowind. I just want to know what you think. Also, please, don't revert or undo other people's edits without explanation.

Take care,

The keypoint is subjective and shouldn't be there.

well the thing is the car bug and all happens only if u use the cheat engine method which that video u linked lol well that videos using hex edtier from what it says but cheat engine and hex edtier i think are the same thing in ways but the wide screen fixer method hasn't had problems like this i played the game many times 30 fps then i played it many times 60 fps cars were fine plus that pacific video u linked hahahha ya i know about it and it hasn't happened to me once cuz like i said useing a different method if u don't belive me go and play la noire 60 fps with widescreen fixer and test out that scene and all and you'll see what i mean.like i am not trying to be a dick and all

Jigen123 (talkcontribs)

I DID test it with Widescreen Fixer, i just don't have time to make a video about it.

EDIT: Ok, i recorded some videos showing the cars handling problems. I will upload them on YT later at night.

So i individually uploaded some short videos on YT since i suck at editing. You can see the car accelerating faster and braking waaay slower at 60 FPS. You can also notice the overly sensitive steering in both the slalom and the high speed 90° turn videos. Steam FPS counter is visible on the top left corner of the screen. The game does use bink for cutscenes.
steamapps\common\Mafia III\bink2w64.dll
steamapps\common\Mafia III\sds_retial\video\*.bik All the video files are in .bik format and play using RAD Game tools software I have installed.

My bad. I thought the pre-rendered cutscenes where the ones in "steamapps\common\Mafia III\sds_retail\cutscenes\fmv\act_0" (folders from "act_0" to "act_5").

Notex (talkcontribs)

That's fine :D
I'm not sure what those .fmv files are, maybe they are the in-game cutscenes or something that are not pre-rendered. That's just a guess though.

Jigen123 (talkcontribs)

Yeah, .sds is a strange file extension indeed. They must be the animations for the real time cutscenes... i wonder why they are in a folder named "fmv".

Notex (talkcontribs)

I know .sds is the archive format they use to store all the game data inside, it's what they used in Mafia II as well. Some guy is currently working on a tool that allows us to extract data from the .sds archives: https://github.com/MartinJK/Mafia3SDSExplorer

For now I guess we just have to wait until that is out, so we can see what the fmv things are.
