Topic on Talk:Forza Horizon 3

When that 0x80073d0d error shows up precisely?

Too bad. That specific version of the game have its page completely deleted and wasn't left for archival purposes like it is for standard and deluxe edition. Probably it's the fact, which allows installing and using these versions for accounts with bought the game before, but it's not the case for your version. If you had EAppx file archived with the help of Fiddler and IDM, back when the game was available, you could install it yourself in PowerShell now. Shame.

Be aware that if your Xbox app doesn't work correctly, you won't be able to launch the game anyway. E.g. old W10 builds cannot use the latest Xbox app and older might crash (still available in store as "beta" BTW). But the latest version of the old app branch from the old URL in store says to install the latest version, and redirects to the new URL and new Xbox app.

It can happen that, the old, still working version (like beta) crashes on launch with Windows.UI.Xaml.dll (don't confuse with Microsoft.UI.Xaml.dll) in Event Log, and then you're stuck and need to update the OS.
