Seperate page really needed?

Is this another one of those situations where sega is selling their old stuff in multiple forms everywhere, then simply decide to update the steam release only? At least I assume so seeing how amazon link doesn't feature any DRM.

First of all, it's not that useful to have information scattered or duplicated in seperate articles. Why not simply have everything under the mega drive/genesis article? I do not think there's enough differences with DRM-Free and Steam legacy version to justify seperate articles and differences like save game data location could easily be notified with collapseable list and all the games under DLC list.

It's why I held off on updating the individual game articles for so long (this recent edit was a test run for updating the rest of them). The April patch for Mega Drive Classics is damn near unprecedented in how much it changes the interface and adds features (like full controller support and borderless windowed), yet because it's Steam-only, includes the old interface (with all it's old limitations) as a fallback AND non-Steam owners have no way of redeeming a Steam copy we have to have two sets of information for it.

The closest analog I can think of it is for the games that had GFWL stripped out for Steamworks, but almost all of those changes simply patched backend code which at most required simple notes in the API and Availability sections for updating to Steam versions. None of those patches changed their games' interfaces as dramatically and left non-Steam users up sh*t creek as much as Sega did with the Mega Drive Classics.

Well, Sega already did something like this with Dreamcast collection, where some games now have three articles because of this: original release, 2011 release and steam release.

So the situation is pretty similar, so I would say that the approach should be similar as well. I would strongly suggest keeping steam update in the main mega drive/genesis article and then having DRM-Free versions which haven't been updated as seperate articles, while guiding users with steam version to main article and note on main article that only steam version is updated to have hub launcher.
