Custom FOV values[citation needed]
  1. Go to <path-to-game>\XGame\Config\
  2. Open XEngine.ini.
  3. Locate line DefaultFOV=xxx in section [SystemSettings].
  4. Change it to the desired FOV value.
Aiming FOV cannot be changed and will always remain at 60°.

  1. Go to the configuration file(s) location.
  2. Open XEngine.ini.
  3. Search and change bSmoothFrameRate to FALSE or raise MaxSmoothedFrameRate value.
  4. Save file.
For more information, see the Unreal Engine 3 page.

Replace the game's version of PhysXCore.dll with a newer version
  1. Either find the newest version of PhysXCore.dll on your computer or just download it from Nvidia: https://www.nvidia.com/object/physx-9.17.0524-driver.html - it's just a .zip so unzip it. At the time of writing the latest version is 2.8.4.11. Right click > properties > details tab > file version to get version number.
  2. Copy the newer .dll to \steamapps\common\The Bureau\Binaries\Win32 and overwrite. Make note of the size, in bytes, of the new dll.
  3. Now open PCConsoleTOC.txt in \steamapps\common\The Bureau\XGame.
  4. Search for "\Binaries\Win32\PhysXCore.dll", should be line 23.
  5. Replace the first number on the line with the new dll's size in bytes, excluding commas. So if your new .dll is (9,919,032 bytes) the replacement number should be 9919032.
  6. Save PCConsoleTOC.txt. Make note of what the txt's new size is, then edit that in PCConsoleTOC.txt too. It should be the very last line or line 3099.

Notes

  1. When running this game without elevated privileges (Run as administrator option), write operations against a location below %PROGRAMFILES%, %PROGRAMDATA%, or %WINDIR% might be redirected to %LOCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore on Windows Vista and later (more details).
  2. 2.0 2.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/65930/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (65930) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
