DOS
The DOS version of the game is not available digitally. Digital versions of The Bard's Tale (2005) include emulated Apple IIgs versions of The Bard's Tale, The Bard's Tale II: The Destiny Knight, and The Bard's Tale III: Thief of Fate.

Essential improvements

Import characters and parties

Character and party files (*.TPW) can be imported from The Bard's Tale.
Import characters/parties[1]
  1. Copy the *.TPW files from The Bard's Tale to The Destiny Knight's installation folder or save floppy.
  2. Go to the Guild of Adventurers in The Destiny Knight (either when starting the game or during an existing saved game).
  3. Choose Load Bard I member.
  4. Choose the character or party to load; as in The Bard's Tale, parties are marked with an asterisk (*).

Game data

Save game data location

System Location
DOS A:\*.TW
A:\SAVE.GAM
<path-to-game>\*.TW
<path-to-game>\SAVE.GAM
Files are stored on a save floppy (when running from floppy) or in the installation folder (when running from the hard drive).
SAVE.GAM contains the current saved game.
The *.TW extension is used for both party files and individual characters (party files only store the names of the characters, not the data for the characters). Files are numbered in the order of creation.[1]
Settings are not stored between sessions.
