Adding custom music

Only the MP3 format is supported. M3U files can also be used.
Windows shortcuts can be used for the desired music.
Adding Custom Radio Stations[1]
  1. Go to the configuration file location.
  2. Open or create the Radio folder.
  3. Create a new folder within Radio.
  4. Add desired music files to this new folder.

Notes

Up to 4 folders can be created within Radio, with 32 files in each. Each folder appears in-game as a separate radio station.
The game will display the file name when playing the track.
Add to Existing Radio Stations[2]
  1. Go to <path-to-game>\Euro\Radio\.
  2. Add music files to the desired radio station folder.
  3. Go to <path-to-game>\Euro\Bnk\Sound\Radio.
  4. Open <NAME OF RADIO STATION>.station with any text editor.
  5. Add the file name, artist, and track name to the file in the same format as the existing tracks.
  6. Save and close the file.

Notes

The game will display the song artist and track name as defined in the <NAME OF RADIO STATION>.station file.

8 GameSpy services have been shut down;[3] see GameSpy for workarounds.

Issues unresolved

Game failing to launch on Windows 8 and higher

3 possible fixes[4]
  • Use Windows XP Service Pack 3(SP3) compatibility mode and Run as Administrator.
  • Perform a clean Windows boot.
  • Use a no CD patch.

Issues fixed

Starting a race crashes the game

Add missing files[5]
  1. Download TDU Race Crash Fix.
  2. Extract it to <path-to-game>\Euro\Bnk.

Game freezes during free roam

Delete the dynamic advertising database[6]
  1. Go to %PROGRAMDATA%\Test Drive Unlimited.
  2. Delete or rename radial.cdb.

Notes

radial.cdb is hidden by default. To view it, be sure both hidden files and system files are shown.

Crash on Windows 10

Disable display scaling on high DPI settings in <path-to-game>\TestDriveUnlimited.exe[7]

Weird traffic behavior

Exceeding 90 FPS introduces traffic bugs: invisible cars, weird spawning, very fast line changes or stopping when your car is near.
Limit the frame rate to 90 FPS with the proper tools[8]
