I'm confused. It says it's DRM-free on Origin. But Origin doesn't work anymore. Does this include the EA App?

If I buy this now on the EA App, which I don't have installed and will not install, for $4, will I be able to play it DRM-free? It's confusing the way it's done here.

Origin and the EA app are the same launcher. The EA app is basically a rebranded build of Origin, so any games that you bought/played on Origin can be played on the EA app. These games will also share the same DRM details as their Origin counterparts

Yeshmon (talkcontribs)

Completely untrue.

I've never downloaded the EA App before, but I do know that it has online-only built into it, while it can be turned off on Origin, so there are at least some big differences. Secondly, not all Origin games transfer to your EA account, and thus onto the EA App. For instance, games purchased through a third party seller. Those games can be redeemed on Origin, but they never appeared in your EA account and those WON'T transfer to the EA App (and I found this out the hard way).

For all intents and purposes, it's a completely different DRM.

For the record, I did buy the game on EA's website, and I downloaded an old build of Origin, and was able to download the game to my computer, without any issues. I deleted Origin, and the game runs completely fine, DRM-free.

I think you can answer your own question if you've already bought Fallen Order directly through EA. Just download the EA app (because you haven't done so previously) and install Fallen Order to see if it's DRM-free on your computer.

Epic Games Store and DRM

In addition to Origin, the EGS version also implements the Epic Games Launcher as DRM, similar to the Steam version, yet at the game's page on this wiki, only Origin is listed under the DRM-section.

Feel free to update the article accordingly and self-ref to make the edit less likely to be reverted.

Is it not possible to remove it by creating Engine.ini in the configuration folder and doing the removal this way? There would be no need for a third-party tool if it is.

Moda (talkcontribs)

The advanced settings are hidden behind .pak files for this game. However there is a way to unpack the .ini settings to make permanent changes and repack them afterwards: cs.rin.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=94722&p=2017594#p2017594

btw. where have my motion blur and disable AA fixes gone? :O

Aemony (talkcontribs)

They were removed since, well, they already have native options to disable them in-game. If there's something that sets them apart from the native options then that needs to be mentioned and clarified. As it stood, their inclusion could inadvertently suggest there weren't a native way of achieving the same thing.

Moda (talkcontribs)

The native functions don't disable motion blur completely. And a dedicated native function to disable AA is not available. ^^

Aemony (talkcontribs)

Then it needs to be clarified what the difference is, e.g. what the console command disables in regards to motion blur vs. what the in-game setting disables so that readers are aware of which one is the more appropriate for them.

As to disabling anti-aliasing, simply follow the "Enable low settings" section.

Moda (talkcontribs)

The option in the menu simply doesn't disable motion blur. The best way i could clarify this is that it may get reduced.
