For me the game crashed after "Start New Game" from the launcher. I found a Steam discussion with a fix: https://steamcommunity.com/app/904540/discussions/0/2965021152090343105/
However, that breaks controller support. I've found downloading dinput.dll from here: https://github.com/elishacloud/dinputto8/releases and placing it in Infernal Machine\Resource worked for me. At least with v1.0.54.0.
Seems like its bugged, at least with Creative Alchemy+X-fi on Win10. You can barely hear the waterfall in the first level and when you fall in water (for the first time) you don't hear the sound of water when you turn your back on the river
I didn't notice any bugs when using DSOAL a few years back; have you tried that?
