General settings.
Base resolution is 256x192 where game scales using nearest neighbour. Modes are original which scales game with 1:1 ratio, full which uses whole width/height of resolution while maintaining aspect ratio and stretch which stretches the game to fill up whole selected resolution.

Widescreen resolution

Set a custom resolution[citation needed]

Use the command line arguments -width 1024 -height 768 where 1024 and 768 are your resolution width and height respectively.

Input settings

Controller uses Nintendo layout where secondary button (DualShock O, Xbox B) is used as an confirmation while primary button (DualShock X, Xbox A) as cancel. See Controller remapping.

Controller remapping

Menu controls are not adapted properly for the Xbox 360 Controller, with the A and B buttons being swapped. Keys for menu are separate binding, but for some reason game refuses to bind one button to more than one action, making swapping A and B buttons impossible in game menu. Manual remapping is required to fix.
Change values with hex editor[3]
  1. Go to the save game data location.
  2. Open the save*.sav file(s) with a hex editor such as HxD.
  3. Go to offset 560 and change 06 to 05. This assigns B to Cancel.
  4. Go to offset 570 and change 05 to 06. This assigns A to Confirm/Talk.
  5. Save and close the file.
For remapping the rest of the functions, expand the content below

Hex values and buttons they represent:

00 = UP
01 = RIGHT
02 = DOWN
03 = LEFT
04 = Y
05 = B
06 = A
07 = X
08 = LB
09 = LT
0A = LS
0B = RB
0C = RT
0D = RS
0E = START
0F = BACK

Offset in hex editor = default hex value = function:

55C = 07 = ATTACK
560 = 06 = CANCEL
564 = 04 = DANCE
568 = 08 = BACKDASH
56C = 02 = DOWN
570 = 05 = CONFIRM / TALK
574 = OE = INVENTORY
578 = 06 = JUMP
57C = 03 = LEFT
580 = 0B = ITEM
584 = 01 = RIGHT
588 = 0F = PAUSE / SKIP
58C = 00 = UP

Notes

  1. 1.0 1.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/277890/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (277890) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
