Key points

Myst requires QuickTime 2 or higher; install from Apple's site if you don't have it already.
The retail version of Myst: Masterpiece Edition comes bundled with a "Making of" video on the disk
Can be run under ScummVM.
The original retail version uses a 16-bit installer, but a workaround is available. See Installing/running the game on modern Windows. Note that the Masterpiece Edition does not have this quirk.

Notes

  1. 1.0 1.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/63660/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (63660) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
  2. When running this game without elevated privileges (Run as administrator option), write operations against a location below %PROGRAMFILES%, %PROGRAMDATA%, or %WINDIR% might be redirected to %LOCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore on Windows Vista and later (more details).
