Issues fixed

Black screen or crash on launch

AMD users: Update display drivers to 18.8.1 or newer[1]

Frame rate drops while using v398.82 or newer display drivers (Nvidia only)

The latest Nvidia drivers have specific overrides for the game that causes frame rate losses in some areas.[2]
Downgrade drivers to v398.36 (Win10, Win7/8.x).
Use Nvidia Profile Inspector to set 0x0094C538 and 0x105E2A1D to 0x0.
Seems to no longer be the problem with drivers v411.63, possibly several older ones as well.

Low texture resolutions

The mod fixes low texture resolutions on NPCs, players, armor, and weapons.
Install the Low Texture Resolution Workaround mod.

Bad CPU utilization

Download and use the Special K mod.

Notes

  1. When running this game without elevated privileges (Run as administrator option), write operations against a location below %PROGRAMFILES%, %PROGRAMDATA%, or %WINDIR% might be redirected to %LOCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore on Windows Vista and later (more details).
  2. 2.0 2.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/582010/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (582010) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
