Version differences

Original releases

Versions 1.000.106 and 1.000.111 of the SCI0 release feature high-detail graphics, while versions 1.003.006 and later lack them for filesize reasons.[3]
The AGI version only supports single and three-channel PC Speaker audio, while the SCI0 version also supports AdLib and MT-32 audio.[4]
The AGI version has a resolution of 160x200, while the SCI0 version has a resolution of 200x320.[4]
The SCI0 version has color dithering support for increased image fidelity.[4]
The Amiga version of the game features exclusive environmental and incidental sound effects.[3]

Digital releases

The King's Quest Collection, the collection on Steam, is not properly configured for modern systems[5]

Essential improvements

Ultimate King's Quest 4 patch

Download patch here.

Combines the Amiga sound effects, SCI0 high-detail graphics, MT-32 audio (emulated using the Munt MT-32 emulator), and other features from the various releases into a single version run through DOSBox.
Requires the PC SCI0 version and ROM files from an authentic MT-32.
