Emulators

higan

higan (previously known as bsnes) is a Nintendo, Super Nintendo, and Game Boy Color emulator, that began development on 2004-10-14. It focuses on accuracy and clean code above all else. It never uses speed or compatibility hacks. As a result, the minimum system requirements are greater than with other emulators.

At this time, higan contains no hacks and runs every official game ever released.

SNES9x

SNES9x is an SNES emulator which runs on the most operating systems. It's been in constant development since 1997.

ZSNES

ZSNES is the most popular emulator for the SNES. Supported on Windows, DOS and Linux. Be careful however, it has not been updated in years and some games have bugs in them, like broken sounds and Super-FX games running faster than they normally should. However, if you are stuck on old sub-1Ghz hardware, it's a safe way to get games playing at full speed.
