Widescreen resolution

Deathtrap Dungeon can run at higher resolutions using nGlide (pre-installed for the GOG.com and Steam versions).
Install nGlide (retail)[3]
  1. Download and install nGlide.
  2. Download Zeus Software's patch and extract it somewhere temporarily.
  3. Run PatchInstall.bat
  4. Move MSS32.dll to the installation folder, replacing the existing file.
  5. Run the nGlide configurator from the Start screen/Start menu.
  6. Set your screen resolution.
  7. Change aspect ratio to "4:3" if you want the correct perspective, or leave at "fit to screen" to have everything stretch to fill the screen.
Run the nGlide configurator (GOG.com)[citation needed]
  1. Go to the installation folder.
  2. Run nglide_config.exe
  3. Set your screen resolution.
  4. Change aspect ratio to "4:3" if you want the correct perspective, or leave at "fit to screen" to have everything stretch to fill the screen.

Vertical sync (Vsync)

For retail versions install nGlide then set from the nGlide configurator in the Start screen/Start menu. For the GOG.com and Steam versions go to the installation folder and run nglide_config.exe.

High frame rate

Despite the limit of 16 FPS in the game, it's possible to increase it by editing the configuration file. Be warned that the framerate is tied to the game's speed overall, so the higher the framerate, the faster the game runs to the point it may become unplayable.

Change the framerate limit[4]
  1. Open the config.dat with the Notepad
  2. Find FRAME_LOCK 16 and replace the number with the desired framerate.
  3. Save the file.
The most recommended framerate limit is 16 to 25.

Notes

  1. 1.0 1.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/245010/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (245010) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
