Anti-aliasing (AA)

Enable SGSSAA using Nvidia Profile Inspector[2]
  1. Download and run Nvidia Profile Inspector.
  2. Search for Bionic Commando: Rearmed in the profiles list.
  3. Set Antialiasing compatibility to 0x000012C1
  4. Set Antialiasing - Mode to Override any application setting
  5. Set Antialiasing - Setting to 2x/4x/8x Multisampling
  6. Set Antialiasing - Transparency supersampling to 2x/4x/8x Sparse Grid Supersampling (the level must match the previous setting).
  7. Set Texture filtering - LOD Bias to either -0.500 (if using 2x MSAA + 2x SGSSAA), -1.000 (if using 4x) or -1.500 (if using 8x).
  8. Click Apply to save the changes.
Alternative solutions[citation needed]
  1. Only morphological filtering(MLAA) can be forced in the graphics card control panel.
  2. Force SMAA using injectSMAA.
  3. Enable Virtual/Dynamic Super Resolution in the graphics card control panel and render the game at a higher resolution than the monitor's native resolution.

Notes

Combine Virtual/Dynamic Super Resolution with MLAA or SMAA method for best visual results.

Issues fixed

Run the game at screen refresh rate

Refresh rate defaults to 60 Hz on startup, even if it's been changed on the previous launch.
Set screen refresh rate[citation needed]
  1. Download Special K.
  2. Copy SpecialK32.dll to the installation folder.
  3. Rename SpecialK32.dll to d3d9.dll.
  4. Start the game and exit.
  5. Open d3d9.ini in the installation folder.
  6. Change RefreshRate=-1 to RefreshRate=0 under [Render.FrameRate].

Game does not start (Windows 10)

The game crashes with a PhysX error message, or starts and closes with no error message.
Update PhysX[3]
  1. Install the latest Nvidia PhysX System Software.
  2. Install the Legacy PhysX drivers.
  3. If problems persist, go to the Nvidia PhysX Common folder and copy the files to <path-to-game>.

Notes

  1. 1.0 1.1 When running this game without elevated privileges (Run as administrator option), write operations against a location below %PROGRAMFILES%, %PROGRAMDATA%, or %WINDIR% might be redirected to %LOCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore on Windows Vista and later (more details).
  2. 2.0 2.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/21680/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (21680) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
