Essential improvements
Patches
Arx Fatalis Patch 1.21 fixes some issues with running the game on modern systems. This patch will update any version; no previous patch is required.
- Digital distribution versions usually include this patch but disc versions do not.
Arx Libertatis port
Arx Libertatis is a modern port for Windows and Linux that fixes numerous issues (install Arx Fatalis Patch 1.21 first if using a disc version).
- The most recent official release, 1.1.2, is from October 2013. Try the latest development snapshot to take advantage of the project's more recent improvements. Bear in mind that a small number of known regressions and issues have cropped up in the development versions. These builds are not fully tested, but generally very stable.

Notes
- ↑ 1.0 1.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in
~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/1700/
in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (1700) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
