The Fanatec ClubSport DD is a racing wheel base released by Fanatec in November 7, 2023.
The ClubSport DD is a mid-tier direct-drive wheel base, sitting between the CSL DD/GT DD PRO and the Podium. The 12Nm/15Nm direct-drive motor that the wheel base have is Fanatec's smoothest, most responsive motor ever designed, with the new FullForce force feedback protocol that is capable of generate detailed force feedback than prior Fanatec direct-drive wheel bases, while reduce the variation in the wheel base's slew rate.
The wheel base's outer shell resemble the GT DD Pro, but is longer to accommodate the more powerful direct-drive motor. On the back of the ClubSport DD are four RJ12 ports, one USB-C port (for connecting to PC and console) and a CAN bus port. The ClubSport DD is the first Fanatec wheel base to be equipped with the QR2 quick release by default, though it can be downgraded to the older QR1 quick release with an optional wheel base drive shaft.
There are two different models were announced on October 13, 2023: the PC-only model with 12Nm of torque and the PlayStation-compatible ClubSport DD+ (Sporting the blue trim on the back of the wheel base instead of yellow on the PC-only model) with 15Nm of torque. The PC-only model is open for preorder since the announcement, with preorder for the ClubSport DD+ open at the later date.[1]
On PC, the wheel bases are compatible with games that incorporate Fanatec's SDK, but requires the wheel base to be in PC mode or PC Compatibility Mode and have Fanatec's own driver installed to work. The wheel base's settings can be further adjusted using the wheel base itself, the driver's Fanatec Control Panel software or the Fanalab software. While most bundle sets have most, if not all, the required items to work out of the box, the standalone wheel base sets need other Fanatec products (specifically, a steering wheel compatible with QR2 quick release) to be usable. Do note that the wheel base will limit its max torque to 8Nm if the wheel with the plastic QR2 Lite quick release is detected. Button layouts vary between equipped steering wheels/hubs.
