Talk:The Settlers: Rise of an Empire - History Edition

About this board

Not editable

The 2GB VRAM problem was fixed in the History Edition, so the information on the wiki is not correct.

For reference, i own both the original release (that has this issue) and the History Edition. The History Edition has this problem fixed, you can select high texture resolution in the menu, contrary to the original release.

I edited the page, however, it was reverted back to the incorrect information.

Hello.

In my test back then the History Edition definitely displayed the exact same problem. I have not tested it since, so perhaps it has been fixed by now or it does not occur in every case.

The Steam forums did also still mention this issue. Example: https://steamcommunity.com/app/965310/discussions/0/1779387671061854041/

Perhaps a modal term like "might" is in order. I do think it should be mentioned somewhere, but I will leave the final decision up to you, given I do not actively play this game.

Hello, thanks for your quick reply! I wanted to ask if you could start your game and check if it is fixed for you as well ... the sliders in the options menu should all be available in the History Edition.

Thanks in advance!

I have given it another test. The issue did persist on Windows 7 but is fixed on Windows 10. (Although setting the resolution can still be troublesome even on the latter and is ideally set in the options.ini anyway).

Windows 7 is obsolete and as such this might not be important anymore. Personally I think a mention of the issue and its simple workaround does no harm, given this tip did help Steam users and others before, but as I have announced, I will leave that up to you.
