Widescreen resolution

The HUD does not scale to match the resolution so may be too small at higher resolutions.
Set resolution in config.div[2]
  1. Go to the configuration file(s) location.
  2. Edit config.div.
  3. Set width and height to the desired resolution.

Windowed mode

The game supports windowed mode only through enabling Debug mode and using DgVoodoo2 to support modern systems. Windowed mode can also be achieved with DxWnd but up to version 2.04.74
Enable Debug mode and use DgVoodoo[3]
  1. Open div.exe on a hex editor (e.g. HxD).
  2. Search for the first result of the pattern 89 5E 28 88 9E 60 01 00 00 as hex and change the 5E byte to 7E.
  3. Save div.exe.
  4. Open slashed-d3d6.cfg on the hex editor.
  5. Go to offset 0x0C and enter a 4-byte integer matching the resolution width, it must be Int32 and little-endian. You can use an integer encoder/decoder (e.g. cryptii.com) to get the correct byte sequence.
  6. Go to offset 0x10 and enter a 4-byte integer matching the resolution height.
  7. Go to offset 0x14 and change the 01 byte to 00 to enable windowed mode.
  8. Download dDgVoodoo2 and extract dgVoodooCpl.exe, dgVoodoo.conf, and D3D8.dll, D3D9.dll, D3DImm.dll and DDraw.dll from DgVoodoo's MS folder into Beyond Divinity's install folder
  9. open dgVoodooCpl.exe and put in the following configuration:
    • In the General tab:
      • Check 'Windowed', leave the dropbox as 'Unspecified'.
      • Check 'Enumerate refresh rates'.
    • In the DirectX tab:
      • Make sure 'dgVoodoo Virtual 3D Accelerated Card' is selected in the 'Videocard' dropdown.
      • Set the VRAM to 1024MB.
      • Resolution should be set to the desired game resolution and refresh rate you want to play at.
      • Uncheck 'Application controlled fullscreen/windowed mode state'.
      • Check 'Disable Alt-Enter to toggle screen state'.
      • Check 'Force vSync' if you wish to have vSync enabled.
      • Uncheck 'dgVoodoo Watermark' to remove the text in the bottom right from dgVoodoo's overlay.
  10. Click on 'Apply' and close the window
Use DxWnd[4]
  1. Download DxWnd version 2.04.74 from SourceForge.
  2. In DxWnd select Options - Expert Mode
  3. Create profile for div.exe.
  4. In Main tab check Run in Window and set the window width and height
  5. In Video tab check Monitor native modes and Initial resolution, and set the initial resolution with the game's internal resolution
  6. In Input tab check Cursor visibility Hide, Mouse Clipper ON, Correct mouse position and Keep cursor within window
  7. In DirectX(2) tab check Set 16BPP RGB565 encoding
  8. In Hook tab select Inject suspended process and IAT aligment Word

Notes

  1. 1.0 1.1 When running this game without elevated privileges (Run as administrator option), write operations against a location below %PROGRAMFILES%, %PROGRAMDATA%, or %WINDIR% might be redirected to %LOCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore on Windows Vista and later (more details).
  2. 2.0 2.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/219760/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (219760) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
