DirectInput is disabled when a DS4 is plugged in, due to a bug for which no fix is known where having one connected makes the game run at 5 FPS.
Generic/other controllers
To prevent the bug mentioned above, the game tries to detect if a DS4 is plugged in, but the heuristics used will sometimes disable DirectInput support in other cases as well. In such cases, removing or disabling any unused DirectInput devices might fix this.

Issues fixed

Game freezes before title screen

The game can freeze before reaching the title screen.
Disable Steam Overlay
  • Disabling the Steam Overlay in the game’s properties on Steam, or starting the game directly without using Steam, might fix the issue.
Don't skip the intro immediately[2]
  • If you skip the intro too quickly, the game might get stuck on a black screen. Wait a few seconds until the intro with the planet starts, and only then press "Start" to skip the intro.
