DualShock button prompts

The game uses Xbox 360 button prompts by default, but unused DualShock 3 (PS3) button prompts are in the game's files.
Reorganize game files[4]
  1. Use an XInput controller or XInput wrapper so that button prompts appear.
  2. Prepare the game for mod support by extracting the DAT files.
  3. Navigate to <path-to-game>\FRAMEWORK-DATA\GUI\FONT.
  4. Delete or rename the existing BUTTONS_PC_NXG.FT2.
  5. Rename BUTTONS_PS3_NXG.FT2 to BUTTONS_PC_NXG.FT2.

Note

Requires extracting the game's DAT files, which significantly increase file size.

Audio

Audio feature State Notes
Separate volume controls
Surround sound
Music, cutscenes, and background ambience are encoded as surround-compatible stereo from a 5.1 source. This results in music being more aggressively left-panned than the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, see the Music Stereo Balancing Fix mod for an alternative.[5]
Subtitles
No voice acting beyond grunts.
Closed captions
Mute on focus lost
Royalty free audio
Uses music from The Clone Wars movie and TV series, as well as the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy.

Issues unresolved

Game is very dark, even when turning up in-game brightness

In the first level on certain Intel iGPUs, the game is very dark except for lightsaber and blaster glow, studs, particle effects, and the HUD. Turning up the in-game brightness option washes out the image without increasing visibility.[citation needed]

Mods

See the Nu2 engine page for instructions on how to configure the game for mod support.
Setting up mods requires extracting the game's .DAT files, which noticeably increases file size.

Add Geonosian Arena characters to Free Play grid

Although the Geonosian Arena variants of Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Padmé are playable in the prologue level, appear as taggable characters in the hub, and are sometimes randomly chosen for the Free Play party, they are unable to be selected manually from the Free Play Grid by default.
Edit Collection.txt[7]
  1. Open <path-to-game>\CHARS\COLLECTION.TXT in a text editor, such as Notepad.
  2. Search for the following lines:
    collect "obiwan_ep2" 0 only_in_hub cheat_code "5u9fjk"
    collect "anakin_ep2" 0 only_in_hub cheat_code "9aa4dw"
    collect "padme_ep2" 0 only_in_hub cheat_code "sz824q"

  3. Add buy_in_shop  to each line, followed by an arbitrary non-zero 64-bit integer, so that it looks something like this:
    collect "obiwan_ep2" buy_in_shop 1000 only_in_hub cheat_code "5u9fjk"
    collect "anakin_ep2" buy_in_shop 1000 only_in_hub cheat_code "9aa4dw"
    collect "padme_ep2" buy_in_shop 1000 only_in_hub cheat_code "sz824q"

  4. Save and close the file. The characters should now appear at the start of the Free Play character grid, even if the Geonosian Arena level has already been completed.

Notable mods

Unless otherwise specified, archives should be extracted to <path-to-game> of a mod-ready game installation.

Notes

  1. 1.0 1.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/32510/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (32510) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.

Compared the OGG files head-to-head (ear-to-ear?) with the MSF files from the PS3 version, which are encoded as 5.1. In that version:
    • The cutscenes are natively 5.1.
    • The ambience tracks are quadrophonic 4.0 with empty center and LFE channels.
    • The music files are upmixed from 2.0 stereo to quadrophonic 4.0 with empty center and LFE channels. The method used is simply repeating the audio from the fronts in the rears at half volume.
