Warnings

This game requires a constant internet connection for all game modes.

The Crew was an online-only racing game developed by Ubisoft Ivory Tower and Ubisoft Reflections and published by Ubisoft. It was the first game in The Crew series.

The Crew was released for Windows on December 2, 2014. The Wild Run expansion was released on November 17, 2015, in an update that also introduced a major graphical overhaul to the game. The Calling All Units expansion was released on November 29, 2016; the Wild Run expansion was delisted and reintegrated into Calling All Units on the same date.

On December 14, 2023, Ubisoft delisted The Crew and its expansions from digital platforms and announced that the servers would be shut down on March 31, 2024. The company did so on that date, rendering the game unplayable. Since then, the company has also removed the game and its associated digital licenses from the accounts that previously owned it, rendering it impossible to even download or launch the game.

General information

The game is no longer playable after the servers were shut down on March 31, 2024.

Issues unresolved

Unreliable performance

Due to the game being designed for 30 fps, many users report erratic performance at higher framerates, including stuttering and severe framerate drops.[6][7][8][9]
These issues are observed regardless of detail settings and resolution, even on high-end systems.
(partial fix) Limit framerate to 30 fps[citation needed]

Locking the framerate at 30 fps (in video options) seems to alleviate most of the problems, resulting in much smoother overall gameplay.

(partial fix) Set borderless windowed mode in game video options[citation needed]

Can give greater stability boost than above. Combine both.

The game shows white screen during ingame daytime on AMD cards

(partial fix) Downgrade to 18.2.1 version drivers or older

Developer is informed about the issue.

Change the camera[citation needed]
Disable all Uplay, Steam, Fraps, MSI Afterburner overlays[citation needed]
Update your drivers to at least 18.5.2 version[citation needed]

The problem is entirely fixed by these driver's version and later.

  1. File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/241560/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (241560) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
