MapleStory is a multiplayer side view action, adventure, MMORPG and platform game in the MapleStory series.

It was first launched in South Korea[Note 1] on April 29, 2003. The game later launched in Japan[Note 2] on December 3, 2003 followed by China[Note 3] on July 23, 2004. The game also launched in North America on May 11, 2005, and Taiwan region[Note 4] on June 1, 2005. South East Asia version was launched on June 23, 2005 followed by Thai version on August 16, 2005 and Europe region on April 12, 2007. Hong Kong version was launched on July 1, 2007 and Vietnam version[Note 5] also launched on October 15, 2008, followed by Brazil version on June 23, 2008, and Indonesia version on June 2, 2014.

As of current, Vietnam version has ceased operation on September 14, 2010, followed by Brazil version on October 12, 2011. Although Thailand version ceased operating on June 29, 2012, it was re-released on December 6, 2017 by new Nexon office in Thailand instead of Asiasoft Thailand. However the new Thailand version also ceased operation on April 1, 2020. Indonesia version also ceased operation on December 16, 2015. For Hong Kong version, it was merged with Taiwan version on February 23, 2009, while Europe version was merged with Global version on September 28, 2016.

On September 15, 2021, Korean version client has forced upgrade from 32-bit to 64-bit in order to fix the memory allocation limitation which only exists in 32-bit OS and high 64-bit utilization.[1] This update was followed later by other region version as well.[2][3][4][5][6]
