Denuvo Anti-Tamper

Error message: "Currently your game purchase cannot be re-validated successfully, please wait 24 hours and try again."

Some games trigger this due to a bug for which there may be a workaround. Refer to individual game pages for details.

StarForce

Error message: "StarForce Protection driver blocked due to incompatibility".

The following StarForce versions work (may need driver update with SFUPDATE):

  • Windows 8.1 and 10: 4.05.007.005 and higher.[1][2]
  • Windows 8: 4.5 and higher.[3]
  • Windows 7: 3.07.018 and higher.[4]
  • Windows Vista: 3.05 and higher for 64-bit[5] or 3.04.062 and higher for 32-bit.[6]

All other StarForce versions do not work on these versions of Windows. Some games remove StarForce in a later patch (refer to the game's page for details).

SafeDisc

Error message: "Access Denied - Please login with administrator privileges and try again" (or similar) or game fails to start.

Retail games using SafeDisc protection do not work due to SECDRV.SYS support being disabled on Windows 10[7] and also by the MS15-097 update for Windows Vista and later. Any versions sold digitally are not affected.

Some games have SafeDisc removed in a later patch (refer to the game's page for details). Protected games can be played on Windows 8.1 and earlier with the workaround covered on MS15-097 (this method does not work on Windows 10).

Tages

Error message: "Tages Protection driver is blocked due to compatibility issues". This issue occurs on Windows 7 and later. Use TagesSetup to install the latest version.[8]

SecuROM

Error 8016 on Intel Skylake CPUs

This issue occurs on Windows 10. Error message: "A required security module cannot be activated. This program cannot be executed (8016)."

Update the BIOS (if available).[9] Some games have been patched to fix this issue.[10]
