Game isn't visible on Steam

Source SDK Base 2006 isn't installed, or you didn't close Steam when installing The Hidden[citation needed]

Make sure to have Source SDK Base 2006 installed, and that you installed it with Steam closed. You can find the SDK base by going to your Library, and where it says "ALL GAMES" in the top left, click. Choose "TOOLS". It's in that list.

Game won't load

Playing online kicks you and gives the following error: "Error verifying STEAM UserID Ticket"

Your UserID ticket is corrupt[citation needed]
  1. Have Steam running.
  2. Go to <Steam-folder>\userdata\<user-id>\config
  3. Create a back up copy of localconfig.vdf, e. g. by copying it to the same folder.
  4. Open a text editor, e. g. Notepad
  5. Drag the file localconfig.vdf into the text editor
  6. Search for "Steam2Ticket" (with quotes)
  7. Delete "Steam2Ticket" and the following long hexadecimal number (including the quotes)
  8. Save the changes (Ctrl + S)
  9. Quit Steam (That updates the localconfig.vdf.)
  10. Restart Steam

Screen goes black when you are hit by the grenade or the 'Less Lethal Launcher'

Go to Options, Video Settings, Advanced. Uncheck 'Use high dynamic range'[citation needed]

  2. From the main menu select Options
  3. Select the Keyboard tab
  4. Click the Advanced button
  5. Check the box next to Enable developer console (~)
  6. Click Apply

Notes

Press ~ to open the console.
Some commands may first require you enabling sv_cheats. You can do so with sv_cheats 1.
Many servers will not allow you to play with cheats enabled, or will disable them upon entering the server.
Users without a US keyboard may experience some problems.
