Crash after "Click anywhere"?

I'm keeping track of the "Crash after Click anywhere" issue that many people are having reported. I ran through all possible fixes without success, and I usually refresh this page to see if anyone has found a fix for it. I'm very surprised to see that this issue has completely disappeared from the article; What can I do to continue getting informed about this particular issue? I thought the PC Gaming Wiki was sort of a way to correlate information from messy sources like forums. --91.121.71.75 08:36, 28 April 2013 (UTC)

It looks like it was removed yesterday because "one of the other fixes should fix the problem", which it clearly doesn't. I'll add it back in, thanks for pointing it out.

I had this issue over the past few days and removing my save game file fixed it.

I had contacted Telltale Games and among the usual reinstall/verify cache and check drivers are up to date suggestions was a suggestion to clear all the files including the files in \My Documents\Telltale Games\Poker Night 2\

I moved the Poker Night 2 folder to my desktop and the game then worked properly and got past the "connecting..." screen. I then moved just my save game back and the problem returned again. So again I removed the save file and again the game works properly.

It does mean starting again and losing all your stats though which is annoying.

Can confirm, removing your old save fixes the problem. I'd like to know if this is just a corrupt save or if people are only seeing this after upgrading to Windows 10 and their old save was from an older version of Windows.

I've added this as a suggested fix to the wiki

Pridit (talkcontribs)

When did we begin adding that? If it was decided, why is it not in the sample article?

Nicereddy (talkcontribs)

See Don't Starve#Game data as a good example. Soeb added that so I think it's as good as official. The Steam data is important because it's used to fix various problems, so I added it. If you feel it's not useful then you can delete it.

Pridit (talkcontribs)

Just because one person does it does not mean it's official, this is a continuing pattern and unless it's decided as a whole and included in the sample article it is by no means official. I don't argue it's not useful but it needs to go through the proper measures before being included as this will have an impact on every game article if we start including it as base. One of the main points I continually raise is consistency, if we keep adding random things and becoming inconsistent the quality in certain articles will begin to lack as we're technically giving some articles special treatment.

Anonymous (talkcontribs)

Exactly, and there was additional reasoning for it on the Don't Starve article - modding and settings editing (which is bloody hacky for that game, as evidenced by the fact that we make reference to random files). I do hope no one takes the edits I make around the wiki as a guideline, since each article needs to have its own relevant information. Unless this game has mods (and I don't believe it does), I see no reason for game data. And that's my opinion on this in every case.

I've no idea about this, but unless the article references some files in the install (game data) directory, I do not see a single reason to list it.

Nicereddy (talkcontribs)

If neither of you find it necessary we can remove it from the article. I figured it would be helpful since, as I said, it was necessary for some of the fixes. However, those fixes have the file locations anyway.

Pridit (talkcontribs)

I think it's a good idea as a whole but should be extended to every installation location and not just Steam, maybe make a thread in improvements so we can have an active discussion? That way we can just make reference in fixes to the game data location above instead of just constantly repeating the full path. Would be incredibly useful down the road. Hopefully we can make it official.

Nicereddy (talkcontribs)

I'd also like to mention you can easily access the game location for Steam by going to Properties > Local Files > Browse Local Files. That could be helpful for this.

Pridit (talkcontribs)

Yes but I'm not just talking about Steam any more, I'm talking about default game installation paths in general. It could be useful for the more obscure locations that are under several sub folders and difficult to locate without googling. Steam locations are easy to find without that anyway as it's always in common or sometimes occasionally in the Steam username folder.

Anonymous (talkcontribs)

It might be, to an extent, however I still do not think it is so on the whole. With custom paths being implemented by Steam, installers virtually always having the option for a custom install path and general unnecessity of this in the case of most games, I see little reason to include this. Anyway, if we are to discuss this, it's probably best to move to the forum. And I still am mostly opposed to this.
