New settings in recent update

Aside from Mac and Linux support, recent updates to HL: Source have brought many new settings. Thusly:

  • Updated screenshots
  • Steam Cloud support added
  • FOV slider added (FOV hack removed)
  • Controller support added
  • Subtitles and closed captions added

Even the HD models from HL1 were added. :O

Excellent! Thanks for updating the page, hopefully Valve keeps HL: Source updated from now on. Do you think the 'Load HD Content' option should be added to General information? I realize it's a simple setting, but I figure it may not be immediately obvious what it does.

Chariblaze (talkcontribs)

Ah, yeah, if the HL1 page is listing that as an essential improvement, it should probably also be here.

Also, sorry about the FOV screens, got a little trigger happy on the FOV section and forgot about them. :X

Nicereddy (talkcontribs)

Also, do you know if this updated added Oculus Rift support?

EDIT: It did and I added it to the page.

Chariblaze (talkcontribs)

Yeah, I think it did. -vr was in my launch options when I updated, and it stopped the game from booting because I didn't have a VR device connected.

This doesn't seem to have an option in the Audio Settings image included, are you sure it's there?

Hungry eyes (talkcontribs)

In most games its not actually an option. It just means that when you Alt+Tab out the audio is muted.

Nicereddy (talkcontribs)

At the time, the audio settings section claimed there was a button to change it, much like there were in other Source games. That was what I was asking about.

Chariblaze (talkcontribs)

Ahhh yeah, I mixed up Source and HL2 and just copied the notes from 2. Edited, thanks a lot.

Chariblaze (talkcontribs)

Ooh, could have sworn the option was there. But yeah, it does that automatically.

HL: Source is still running Source 2004, which means that there isn't that 75-90 FOV slider we all know and love; instead, FOV has to be changed through the dev console. The method isn't exactly friendly, but it does exist.
