What is the right dualsense controller syntax?

2
Turtleman (talkcontribs)

Alan Wake 2 has added Playstation controller true and controller types as DS, DS4, DSE while all the other games have listed it as dualshock mode = DualSense, however recently whenever I am adding DualSense to the dualshock mode it gives me an error. help?

Brightness in fullscreen

The article points out that the game is way too bright in exclusive fullscreen but does not mention a fix. After looking online, I found that setting "Window.Gamma" in \AppData\Local\Electronic Arts\Dead Space\settings.txt to a negative value helps with this issue. The in-game reference picture ("decrease brightness until logo is barely visible") can be used for fine-tuning. For me, I've found that -1.20000000 gives good results. Should this be included in the page...?

2003:D5:D703:9700:A484:7AEA:3CF5:801F (talkcontribs)

sure, go ahead and add it (: under "Issues fixed", probably. you would have to refer to it where the too-high-brightness is mentioned, though

Markie (talkcontribs)

-0.15000000 is the brightness value that's equivalent to the default one (0.50000000) when brightness levels are working properly. This can be verified in windowed mode where you cannot adjust brightness as the brightness section is removed from the options menu entirely or by taking screenshots while in fullscreen. I have added it to the fixbox about the issue in the page and moved all of it to the issues fixed section as well.

Alternative V-sync Fix

71.235.224.216 (talkcontribs)

In order to chance the V-sync Value manually you must locate the settings.txt located at (User)\AppData\Local\Electronic Arts\Dead Space\settings.txt. once open you can change the V-sync Value from 60 to 120 (or double your Monitors Refresh rate). By doing this you should have a proper 60fps with V-sync. So in settings.txt if the V-sync Value is 60, the game will run at 30, if the value is 120 it will run at 60fps, at 240 it will run at 120fps and so on.

Chrysaliarus (talkcontribs)

Tried this and it doesn't work. Even with the v-sync value set to 120 it still locks at 30.

Mirh (talkcontribs)

You are both right.

It's just that the game uses a 30FPS lock when it's in windowed mode, and a half-refresh-sync when it's in fullscreen.

2003:D5:D706:6900:F597:FC92:D93F:4705 (talkcontribs)

No, it ALWAYS synchs to a fixed value of 30. My monitor has 144Hz, and when in fullscreen or windowed mode, it goes to 30FPS with Vsync enabled, no matter what.

Nognoa (talkcontribs)

For the record it might be that the 2 versions are actually identical. There're diffrent Technical support and EULAs, and different files in the text_assets folder (binary). They probably didn't changes subs while keeping voice the same. But maybe they changed UI and text on in-game textures?

2003:D5:D706:6900:F597:FC92:D93F:4705 (talkcontribs)

Why would they though... it's an American game with American actors, and so on... British people have no problem understanding American/Modern English. So why go through the trouble, time, and extra-work to add some redundant letters to words? Goes for any game btw.

Controller sensitivity

The forum says the controller sensitivity option has to be added in the Settings.exe..... then literally says nothing anywhere about what that command even is.

Doctor Challus Mercer doesn't appear

Mars icecream (talkcontribs)

Disabling Vsync/running the game at above 30 FPS can cause a game breaking bug. In 'Chapter 5: Lethal Devotion' Doctor Challus Mercer doesn't appear and the game can't progress. The easiest way to solve this issue was to momentarily enable Vsync in the settings. One walkthrough mentioned the bug as well. Sources will be added later.

Mirh (talkcontribs)

I wonder if it isn't related to this

In-game v-sync caps frame rate at half of the monitor's refresh rate, not 30 FPS

1
Flang (talkcontribs)

I understand why the "v-sync = 30 FPS" conclusion was made, since most people have 60Hz monitors, but it is incorrect. Enabling v-sync through the game's menu will cap the FPS at half of whatever your monitor's refresh rate is. So if you're on a 60Hz monitor the cap is 30 FPS, but on a 120Hz monitor the cap is 60 FPS. On my 144Hz monitor the cap is 73 FPS.

I don't have a source but I have tested it extensively on my computer with a 144Hz monitor. Based on this I removed the key point in the opening (it's not a "negative" anyway, since even on a 60Hz monitor it's easily fixable).

Mars icecream (talkcontribs)

Can the Origin version use SecuROM, if it starts on "vanilla" Windows 10?

Mirh (talkcontribs)

THERE'S NO PROBLEM WITH SECUROM AND WINDOWS 10. PERIOD.

Said this, it's not like you can't check with protectionid.

Mirh (talkcontribs)

where should i point out that gibbed tools supports the game?

Cawt (talkcontribs)

Maybe in a "Tools" section under "Game Data"?

Nicereddy (talkcontribs)

Personally I would prefer "Other information" since that's more of a "Misc" section and, while Game data makes sense, it would kind of clutter it and not be useful to the majority of users.
