Patch 1.01 not required for Uplay version

2
Tsunrise (talkcontribs)

As of writing this, the uplay version is incompatible with the patch file hosted here. Do you think it's a good idea to mention that?

Plok (talkcontribs)

Nowhere, because digital releases of games are presumed to be up-to-date unless otherwise mentioned.

Music issue seems related to remove the startup movie files.

1
Grunwaldt (talkcontribs)

The issue with background music not playing seems to be related to have removed the startup movies. I played for 2 weeks since last install with the startup movies and music was always on. I removed both of them (the ubisoft logo and the disclaimer) and now seems to randomly cause the problem. I tried by just enabling the disclaimer (the text vid that shows "various religious faiths and beliefs and blah") and didn't get the music silence at all. Need to confirm, but that seems to be the problem...

DLC disappear when I beat the game

1
Deathcoldua (talkcontribs)

So, when I beat the game and finish whole story mode, except the side quests and stuff, the Altair skin that goes as DLC, the one that you can select from the pause menu, is disappeared. Before that, when starting the game, I checked the Altair DLC skin in the menu where you can select different capes, and it was available. But like I said, after beating the game, it was simply gone. So yeah, my question is, why this is happening and can I somehow make that DLC skin to return back???

UPD: It looks like my save file got messed up. And so, after reinstalling the game, DLC's were back, but there is few things to note here. First of all, there is seems to be few save files. One is about your progress in the game and the other one is about your unlocked content. And so the other one, with unlocked content got damaged somehow, after I beat the game. Also, this second save file already comes with the game, and after installing it again, all I had to do is to copy my progression save file back and all DLC gonna be unlocked, along with my game already completed. All tho it returns the templar tombs back and I have to visit those tombs again, to beat them and find hidden templar's treasure. Everything else remains unlocked and complete.

EaglePatch Causes the game to not detect the Xbox controller correctly.

1
Helderrocket (talkcontribs)

Testing EaglePatch, I notice that when I go to the controls option, "Xinput Controller 1" appears in the list, instead of the name of my controller "Controller (Xbox One For Windows)".

And when I want to customize them, when I click on a function, and press a button on the controller, nothing happens.

I have an original Xbox Series controller, which is wired to the computer. Without the patch, it is detected correctly and with its respective name (as I mentioned before), but with it activated, the controller only works in the menu. And there is no other controller in the list.

That controller appears in the list even if no controller is connected to the computer. (Xinput Controller 1).

Solution: Hi-res shadows causing crashes

1
Magonia (talkcontribs)

Many people, me included, experience crashes when enabling the Visual Fixup Mod shadow fix. However, I noticed that when setting the shadow resolution to 2048 with Cheat Engine, it works fine. It's only when I set it to 4096 like the mod does that the game crashes.

"HD Shadow Mod" seems to contain a Trojan?

EVERGREEN (talkcontribs)

I downloaded the mod a few weeks ago (when the game was free to grab) and Windows Defender didn't detect anything. However, when I tried using it yesterday, Win Denfeder blocked it and Nexus Mods also blocks any download. Comments on the Nexus page also report the same issue. Trojan signature is Win32/Tiggre!plock. According to a Reddit thread, it is a fairly generic signature however.

Should we remove it?

Jigen123 (talkcontribs)

The mod is safe, don't worry.

EVERGREEN (talkcontribs)

I personally think that it is - however unless you disable Defender entirely through the Group Policy Editor, Win you won't let you launch the .exe and you cannot download it from Nexus anymore.

Magonia (talkcontribs)

You shouldn't do that. When Defender blocks access to the file, you can tell Defender to allow it anyway.

Mirh (talkcontribs)

Deluxe Edition's DLC, can not longer be accessed or redeemed in-game.

Redakdal (talkcontribs)

So something concerns me, this is from a recent steam thread:

Ubi_TheBerry (developer)

"I'm afraid that following the closure of the Assassin's Creed II online services, certain additional content, including the Deluxe Edition's DLC, can not longer be accessed or redeemed in-game.

As a result, the Deluxe Edition has been delisted from Steam, but current DX edition content will remain inaccessible.

Sorry for any disappointment or inconvenience caused.

If there's anything more can answer or help with, please let us know!

- Ubisoft Support"

SO TLDR: from various threads I have gathered, the issue seems to be that because of the server shutdown for old ubisoft titles, the dlc for the deluxe edition or any version besides the remaster, can no longer be accessed in game without a 100% save file, meaning it is impossible to 100% the game on any new save file, even if you own the deluxe edition

My question is if there is another work around that could bypass the DRM for these locked DLC's or is it impossible due to it being tied to the ubi servers?

Jigen123 (talkcontribs)

Yeah, DLC access is locked to save files in these old Ubisoft games. At the moment the only solution is to grab a save file created when the DLCs were still available, as you already said. Also, I suppose hex editing saves could be a solution.
Pretty sad tbh.

Redakdal (talkcontribs)

from what various users have said, you only need the save file that has been made prior to the shutdown, but you don't have to actually play on that file as it will unlock for the other 2 slots.

I am unsure how accurate that is, I might have to test that out myself in the next few weeks, if hex editor doesn't work, I am wondering if they could add a save file as a possible work around if I can prove it works.

I have used pcwiki since I got my new pc earlier this year, and because of this issue I feel inclined to help others find a fix.

"Periodic stutter" removal

3
LeRutY (talkcontribs)

Hey, I added "periodic stutter" to the "Issues unresolved" section in august last year because I experienced stuttering all the time in my playthrough. I played it with a GTX 260 and Q6600 and Windows 7 many years ago, but can´t remember if it was already an issue there. My contribution got removed by "Jigen123". Am I the only one with stuttering especially when there are many people on the screen?

Jigen123 (talkcontribs)

Hi! I removed that because we can't add every performance problem we personally experience with a game. The issue needs to be objectively there and shared by a large part of the playerbase.

Mirh (talkcontribs)

You can add "personal problems" to the page, since computers aren't magic and such and such configuration will always lead to this and that effect. But you need to have some solid (or at least tentative..) theory behind the issue.

Otherwise, with a single data point, speculation is just too wild.

.. Speaking of which, we have some kind of stuttering fix since a week or so, which I suppose is better than nothing. But it's very confusing and half-assed if you ask me. You could try to verify and improve that.

Tomasak (talkcontribs)

I got small question. Does the steam version have the czech subtitles? Steam store page says it has cz support but not steamdb. Also the uplay lacks the cz subtitles.

Vetle (talkcontribs)

Steam store page is incorrect, languages available through Steam can be checked on SteamDB's depot page.
