[edit] Steam widescreen

Advantage Only widescreen hack method which works on Steam version.[7]
Disadvantage Works by replacing the updated Steam exe to an older one to allow UniWS to work, which reverts to a slightly older version of the game with some bugs.[8]

Instructions Steam widescreen using Squizzy and UniWSLink

  1. Run the game, and set in-game resolution to 1280x960 (this allows a custom resolution to be selected externally).
  2. Download Squizzy Kotor2 Resolution Patcher.
    • This is simply to extract an exe compatible with UniWS, not to use the resolution patching function.
  3. Extract the new swkotor2.exe, replacing the file in the game directory: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Knights of the Old Republic II\
  4. Download UniWS.
  5. Run the resolution patcher, select game Knights of the Old Republic II The Sith Lords
  6. Set the desired resolution and click 'patch'.
  7. Check swkotor.ini has the desired resolution (under the [Display Options] and [Graphics Options] headers):
[Display Options]
Width=1920
Height=1080

[Graphics Options]
Height=1080
Width=1920

[edit] Retail widescreen

  2. Download UniWS.
  3. Run the resolution patcher, select game Knights of the Old Republic II The Sith Lords
  4. Set the desired resolution and click 'patch'.
  5. Check swkotor.ini has the desired resolution (under the [Display Options] and [Graphics Options] headers):
[Display Options]
Width=1920
Height=1080

[Graphics Options]
Height=1080p
Width=1920

[edit] Widescreen minimap problem

Disadvantage Unfortunately other UI elements will be stretched in widescreen, there are no other fixes.

Instructions Fix minimap locationLink

Information After applying a widescreen resolution, the HUD elements will be streched and the minimap will not report the correct location.

1) Download the HUD fix for either 16:9 resolutions or 16:10 resolutions.

2) Unzip and place the mipc28x6_p.gui file in the \Override\ folder.

[edit] Dialogue options won't display

Disadvantage Dialogue options will not display on vertical resolutions of 1366x768 or below.

Fix Increase resolution to 1366x785[9]Link

Disadvantage This causes some of the screen to be cut off at the top.
Disadvantage Slightly mouse hotspot inaccuracy.
  1. Using the #Steam_widescreen_using_Squizzy_and_UniWS, set the resolution to 1366x785.
  2. Check swkotor.ini has the desired resolution (under the [Display Options] and [Graphics Options] headers):
[Display Options]
Width=1366
Height=785

[Graphics Options]
Height=785
Width=1366

[edit] The Sith Lords Restored Content Mod (TSLRCM)

Information PCGamingWiki file mirror.
Information Restored content information at Star Wars Fanpedia.
Information Unlike other KOTOR 2 mods, the TSLRCM does not need to be installed in the \Override\ folder.[10] Simply extract to the root folder of the game.
Information Successfully installed mod will result in updated splash screen.[11]
Advantage Highly recommended patch restores cut content from the game.
Advantage Version 1.8.2 now supports M4-78 Enhancement Project which restores 'droid planet' content.[12]

Fix Switch to windowed modeLink

Intel integrated graphics seems to work for the Steam version but not the retail version in some cases.

Fix Change NVIDIA Control Panel settings[16]Link

If you have a newer NVIDIA GPU and your game keeps crashing when you click 'Load Game' from the main menu, a detailed solution for this can be found here.[17] The critical detail seems to be changing Threaded Optimization in the NVIDIA Control Panel to OFF

[edit] Stuttering or freezing after combat

Information This can be fixed by limiting maximum framerate.[18]

Fix Apply Vsync

Fix Multi-core fixLink

Information If using a multi-core computer, you will need to set CPU single core affinity.

1) Right click on the shortcut and select 'Properties'. In the target box, type in:

cmd /C start "SWKOTOR2" /D "C:\Program Files (x86)\LucasArts\SWKotOR2\" /high /affinity 1 "C:\Program Files (x86)\LucasArts\SWKotOR2\swkotor2.exe"

Replace C:\Program Files (x86)\LucasArts\SWKotOR2\ with where your game install is located. E.g. If you're running 32bit it will be just C:\Program Files\....

  1. Right click the name of the game you want to edit (The Sith Lords).
  2. Navigate to proper directory. On Steam, default is (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steamapps\Common\Knights Of the Old Republic II)
  3. Click OK

Fix Steam registryLink

  1. Use 'regedit' to add the appropriate keys.
  2. The editor searches for a string value named 'Path' under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\LucasArts\KotOR2
