Issues fixed[edit]

Graphics/colors problem[edit]

Depending of your video card you could have some graphical problem ingame. A graphic wrapper can fix this problem. The wrapper can Also improved the graphics of the game by forcing a superior resolution, AA that is not possible though ini

Download DGVOODOO2[citation needed]
  1. Copy the 3 dll include of the MS folder and dgVoodooSetup.exe in the game folder.
  2. Launch the dgVoodooSetup.exe and be sure to that the running instance is the game folder.
  3. In the DirectX tab, choose an TI4400 or a radeon 8500 videocard and max VRAM.
  4. Optional : Modify the resolution(max 4/3 resolution, like 1440*1080 for a 16/9 screen), AA, and other texturing settings to your convenience.
  5. Be sure in the general tab that aspect ratio is activate (to avoid stretch image).
  6. Apply the change and launch the game.

Creative Alchemy Wrapper not working[edit]

By default the DSOUND.dll of the creative alchemy wrapper is ignored by the game. So No surround sound or EAX can be selected.

Open the MSS32.DLL in the game folder with an Hex editor[citation needed]
  1. Search for value DSOUND.DLL inside it
  2. change DSOUND.DLL value to ESOUND.DLL
  3. Save the dll.
  4. Rename the DSOUND.DLL of the ALchemy Wrapper inside the game folder to ESOUND.DLL
  5. The game should now use the ESOUND.dll (instead of the native Windows DSOUND.DLL)
  6. EAX and Surround sound should be now available and can be activate.
  7. No log will be created by the alchemy wrapper due to the renaming.

Random crash on modern operating systems[edit]

The game could on some configuration have some random crash, this issue can be fix by forcing the game to use only one CPU core.
Not need if you already use the unofficial patch below that fix the medal case crash problem, it also force the game to run on one core.
Download the official Microsoft tools imagecfg[citation needed]

Then launch the following command though the command interpreter (cmd.Exe).

imagecfg -u <path-to-game>\lancer.exe
imagecfg -u <path-to-game>\lancer.icd
imagecfg -a <path-to-game>\lancer.exe
imagecfg -a <path-to-game>\lancer.icd

After that exe file and ICD file of the game has been modified to force the game to use only one CPU Core.

No Launch on Windows 10[edit]

This problem is due to the SafeDisc DRM that is not support any more in Windows 10. Two solutions exist.
Use a NO-CD to launch the game on Windows 10[citation needed]
Use an unSafeDisc tool to remove SafeDisc DRM from your version of the game[citation needed]

Game crash when closing the medal case[edit]

This game crash when you want to close the medal case on modern windows OS, a patch exists to fix this problem.
This fix also force the game to run on one core, so no need to use the imagecfg after that.
Download and install the unofficial patch available here[citation needed]
  1. Install the Application Compatibility Database with the batch included in this file.
  2. Do not use any compatibility mode on the Game exe after that !
  3. The medal case should now be usable without any crash of the game.
