Issues fixed

Game cannot be installed

When attempting to install from disk, a message will pop up saying Fatal Application Error - This Application has Unexpectedly Quit.
Instructions
  1. Go to My Computer or This PC, depending on the version of Windows you're using, and open the disk drive, where Spy Hunter is located.
  2. Right click Autorun.exe, select Properties, set compatibility mode to Windows XP (Service Pack 2), check Run this program as an administrator, then click Apply.
  3. Run the installer as usual.

Game crashes

Game will crash shortly after reaching the title screen.
Method 1: Install dgVoodoo
  1. Download dgVoodoo.
  2. Extract dgVoodooCpl.exe and dgVoodoo.conf to <path-to-game>, where SpyHunter.exe resides.
  3. Open the MS folder in the dgVoodoo zip and extract DDraw.dll, D3DImm.dll, D3D8.dll, and D3D9.dll from the x86 folder to <path-to-game>, again where SpyHunter.exe resides.
  4. Open dgVoodooCpl.exe.
  5. Make sure the Config folder / Running instance is set to <path-to-game>, it may already be there by default.
  6. In the General tab, set Adapter(s) to use / enable to your current graphics card, Appearance to Full Screen, and Scaling mode to Stretched, 4:3 Aspect Ratio.
  7. In the DirectX tab, make sure Disable and passthru to real DirectX is unchecked, and set Resolution to Max. You can uncheck dgVoodoo Watermark if you wish.
  8. Optional: under Texturing, set Filtering to Force anisotropic 16x and set Antialiasing (MSAA) to 8x to enable anisotropic filtering and antialiasing respectively. Under Miscellaneous, check Force vSync to enable vSync.
  9. Click Apply and exit the program.
Upscales to your desired resolution and can apply anti-aliasing/anisotropic filtering.
Framerate is quite low while using dgVoodoo.
Method 2: Install WineD3D
  1. Download WineD3D.
  2. Extract d3d8.dll and wined3d.dll to <path-to-game>, where SpyHunter.exe resides.
Greatly improves framerate, which greatly improves loading times.
Limited only to screen resolutions the game offers.
