Key points

Game progress is only saved in-between levels. It's due to a technical limitation in the game engine.[1]

Issues unresolved

Game crashes after loading a level

Most commonly happens on the levels Backups Missing, Inferno, Dead Colony and Keep Your Claws Off.
Devs are unable to determine what causes the problem.
Download a save file[citation needed]
  1. Check your save file by going to \profiles\<user-id>\save\, it should be named save_xx.dhs with xx being a number.
  2. Download a save file here that is above your current number (i.e. if your current save file is save_8.dhs you would need to download save_9.dhs).
  3. Place the save file you just downloaded in the same folder you found the original save file in.
Use a script file[citation needed]

Download this script file and extract it to the installation folder.

Issues fixed

Water-rendering bug in Chapter 5: Sewers

According to a Frozenbyte developer, it is not likely they will fix this bug.[4]
Use console command[citation needed]

Press F8 to bring down the console and enter /render_distortion 0

Disable anti-aliasing[citation needed]

Disable anti-aliasing in the setup dialog and the reflection should be fixed.

Crash after loading, save files and script from above don't help

Install PhysX Legacy[citation needed]

Download and install NVIDIA PhysX Legacy System Software

Notes

  1. 1.0 1.1 When running this game without elevated privileges (Run as administrator option), write operations against a location below %PROGRAMFILES%, %PROGRAMDATA%, or %WINDIR% might be redirected to %LOCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore on Windows Vista and later (more details).
  2. 2.0 2.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/11200/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (11200) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
