Use special attacks[3]
  1. Equip the sword (2).
  2. Hold the block button.
  3. While holding the block button, also start holding the attack button. The sword will glow.
  4. While still holding both attack and block, press the combo keys in order (for available combos, see F1). For example, for a basic combo press forward (W) and then backward (S).
You can normally change direction of blocks or attacks by pressing the movement keys (very helpful when fighting multiple enemies). However, while charging a combo the direction can no longer be changed. You have to let go of the attack button (you can keep blocking) to re-orient the character.
Cast spells[3]
  1. Change to demon form (R).
  2. Equip spell from inventory (Q) or via quickslot.
  3. Press the right mouse botton to go into targetting mode.
  4. Press the right mouse botton again to cast the spell.
Target weapons with crosshair[3]
  1. Equip gun or crossbow.
  2. Go to first-person mode ( Shift).
  3. Press attack button once. Now, a crosshair appears and you can shoot by repeatedly pressing the attack button. Reload the gun with right mouse button.
  4. If you want to get out of targetting mode, press a movement key.

Issues fixed

Missing sounds in the game

Method 1: Set sound quality to low[4]
  1. Open the game's audio settings.
  2. Set sound quality to "Low". If this is locked, first disable EAX.
  3. You can enable EAX again.
  4. Restart the game.
Method 2: Restore EAX sounds
This method actually may not work for everyone !
  1. Download the latest DSOAL.
  2. Extract all the contents from the archive to the games installation directory.
  3. You should now have all sounds restored in the game without setting the quality to "Low".

  1. This version of StarForce DRM does not work on Windows 8.1, Windows 10, or Windows 11.[1][2] For supported versions of Windows the StarForce driver may need to be updated manually using SFUPDATE.
  2. 2.0 2.1 When running this game without elevated privileges (Run as administrator option), write operations against a location below %PROGRAMFILES%, %PROGRAMDATA%, or %WINDIR% might be redirected to %LOCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore on Windows Vista and later (more details).
