Skip intro videos[edit]

Delete/move/rename intro videos files
  1. Go to <path-to-game>\video\
  2. Delete/move/rename intel_sting.bk2 and sting.bk2 files.
Note: Some users have reported loss of Racenet connectivity and game save failures as a result of renaming or deleting the video files.

Activate Intel graphics options[edit]

Open hardware_settings_options.xml
  1. Go to <path-to-game>\system\
  2. Open the hardware_settings_options.xml file.
  3. Modify all <option name="on" lng="lng_on" dx11Only="true" intelExtensionsOnly="true"> to <option name="on" lng="lng_on" dx11Only="true" intelExtensionsOnly="false">
  4. Save hardware_settings_options.xml file.
Steam will re-download this file if you verify integrity so you will need to repeat the process.

Regardless of where the game is installed, the Windows version will attempt to use the %PROGRAMDATA% area to store the in-game replays. The game will work with a Windows NTFS junction point, allowing the folder to be mapped to alternate locations/drives.

Issues unresolved[edit]

Crashing during loading screens[edit]

Users are reporting that the game is crashing randomly during loading screens.[3][4] There is currently no known fix.

Logitech Gxx issues[edit]

Users are reporting a variety of issues with Logitech Gxx peripherals.[5][6] There is currently no known fix.

Minimap not shown during races[edit]

Users are reporting an issue with the minimap not being displayed during a race.[7]

Codemasters has stated they are working on a fix and it will be released shortly.[citation needed]

Disable engineer speech[edit]

Delete speech_engineer.bnk
  1. Go to <path-to-game>\audio\soundbanks\[your language]\
  2. Delete the speech_engineer.bnk file.
  3. Create an empty text file and rename it speech_engineer.bnk

Disable music during races only[edit]

Open music.xml
  1. Go to <path-to-game>\audio\
  2. Open the music.xml file.
  3. Modify music_default_excitement, music_default_last_lap_excitement and all envelope_contribution to 0.0
  4. Go to <path-to-game>\audio\soundbanks\
  5. Delete mus_inrace.bnk file
  6. Create an empty text file and rename it mus_inrace.bnk
Steam will re-download missing files if you verify integrity so you will need to repeat the process.


  • GRID 2 Mods - Collection of released modifications.
  • Cockpit Cam Mod - Available for all vehicles (except DLC), works online and the only prominent issue being the blurry dashboard.
