Issues fixed[edit]

Black border with certain aspect ratio[edit]

Fix Replace application

  1. Download the file corresponding to your aspect ratio. 4:3, 5:4, 16:10.
  2. Go to the installation folder.
  3. Replace the original driver.exe with the one you have downloaded.
Information It is recommended to backup any files being replaced in case of any issues.

Game starts fullscreen and with sound but no video[edit]

  1. Go to the configuration file(s) location.
  2. Open the file and modify Fullscreen = 1 to Fullscreen = 0

White screen and only sounds (OS X)[edit]

Information OS X users are reporting they are only getting a white screen and audio after launching the game.[1][2] A possible fix is detailed below.

Fix Adjust settings

  1. Go to System Preferences and open Energy Saver.
  2. Untick Automatic graphics switching.

Incorrect Refresh Rate / Black Borders[edit]

Fix Run the game in borderless windowed mode

  1. Untick fullscreen in the game's video options.
  2. Download and run Borderless Gaming.
  3. Add Driver from Processes to Favorites in Borderless Gaming.

Installer UI Mode Error[edit]

Fix Run the installer in compatibility mode

Disadvantage The game will not install on Windows 8 and later with the following error: "The installer cannot run in this UI Mode". The workaround for this is as follows:
  1. Navigate to the Ubisoft Game Launcher/cache/installers/13/Disk1/InstData directory.
  2. Right click the setup.exe file and open the Properties window.
  3. Open the "Compatibility" tab and check the "Run this program in compatibility mode for" checkbox.
  4. Select "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)" option from the drop down menu.
  5. Click OK to close the Properties window.
  6. Install the game as normal.
This method is also needed to install official patches.

Icons in Windows system menus are not removed with uninstallation[edit]

Fix Remove the game's registry entry[citation needed]

  1. Open regedit
  2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\GameUX\Games
  3. Look at the registry data for each entry under this folder until one of them is for your install location of Driver San Francisco.
  4. Delete the registry entry in the Registry Editor by right-clicking it and selecting delete.
