Key points

Runs well on low-end hardware.[1][2]
Users are reporting low frame rates and stuttering after the prologue.[3][4] This problem may be caused by broken Steamworks integration.[5]

  1. Go to <path-to-game>\data\movie.
  2. Delete or rename B_US_0000.sfd, PlatinumGames.sfd, and syukyaku_A.sfd.
Criware logo does not have its own separate file and as such cannot be skipped.

Video settings[edit]

Graphics option Option Notes
Widescreen resolution
Other aspect ratios than 16:9 are letterboxed (see the WSGF topic). Some "rare" arbitrary resolutions can cause glitches in some cutscenes.[7]
Multi-monitor
See the WSGF topic.
Ultra-widescreen
See the WSGF topic. Probably coming in a future update, as hinted in the following test branch.
4K Ultra HD
Field of view (FOV)
Windowed
Borderless fullscreen windowed
Anisotropic filtering (AF)
Up to 16 samples.
Anti-aliasing (AA)
Up to 16x MSAA, but only 2x MSAA works and it may brighten the image as part of a bug.[8][9] See Anti-aliasing (AA) to force MSAA for Nvidia cards.
Vertical sync (Vsync)
60 FPS
Pre-rendered cutscenes run at 30 FPS.
120+ FPS

Anti-aliasing (AA)[edit]

  1. Download and run NVIDIA Profile Inspector.
  2. Add a profile for the game.
  3. Set Antialiasing compatibility to one of the following:
    • 0x00001241 for MSAA
    • 0x000012C1 for SGSSAA, OGSSAA or HSAA
    • 0x000032C5 for a higher quality 4xSGSSAA that may require more performance.
  4. If using either SGSSAA option, set Antialiasing fix to On
  5. Set Antialiasing - Mode to the desired option.
  6. If only applying MSAA, do not set anything in the Antialiasing - Transparency Supersampling field with this flag; it will either break shadows or make the image very blurry. For SGSSAA the same field must instead be set to the corresponding SGSSAA option to work.
  7. Click Apply to save your changes.

Notes

For the high quality 4xSGSSAA, it's important to disable SSAO in game for this. Otherwise the image is blurry and performance tanks.[11]

Issues fixed[edit]

Tearing with G-Sync monitors[edit]

Enable Vsync in game or in the Nvidia Control Panel[citation needed]
Change preferred framerate option[citation needed]
  1. Open the Nvidia Control Panel, and go to Manage 3D settings.
  2. If not already created, create a profile for Bayonetta.
  3. In the Bayonetta profile, change Preferred refresh rate to Highest available.

Direct3D 9 Uses D3D9EX, old versions of SweetFX will not work with the game. Reshade does work, but will break forced AA on Nvidia cards.
