Essential improvements[edit]

Skip intro videos[edit]

Fix Rename/delete videosLink

  1. Go to the installation folder.
  2. Go into videos
  3. Rename or delete the file ubi_logo.bik
  4. Go into the sub-folder for your in-game language.
  5. Rename or delete warning_disclaimer.bik file.

Notes:

Information This may cause the game to crash after the pre-rendered end-game cinematic (it ends with something like 'How is this better?' before crashing). If your game crashes there you should restore these files manually or by checking your game cache with Steam (forcing them to be re-downloaded).

Issues fixed[edit]

Game freeze and/or tabs to black Windows screen[edit]

In this case often a bubble of info stating that the nVidia driver has been restarted.

According to the Gforce forums clocking down ones GPU processor speed by 50Hz will fix the problem. MSI Afterburner is often recommended for this task.

(Underclocking by these small numbers is absolutely safe.

AC3SP.exe has stopped working[edit]

Fix Delete save fileLink

Your save file may be corrupted. If you delete your save file and disable automatic cloud save sync in Uplay, the game will be able to run without crashing.

Low FPS when running two cards in Crossfire.. (Might work for SLI, not tested.)[edit]

Fix Set to single card modeLink

If you experience having low FPS with your crossfire setup, try disabling crossfire (running the game with only one card). This can be done under the "Performance" section of the AMD Catalyst Control Center, under the CrossfireX tab.

I went from unstable 60fps with drops down to 30-40fps to running it smoothly at 60FPS. Might help, might not, not a guaranteed fix, just sharing what worked for me. This game still needs a patch for the overall performance.

Crash with faulty module dlumd32.dll[edit]

Fix Update DisplayLink driverLink

Download drivers from DisplayLink site.[2]

d3dx9_27.dll error[edit]

Fix Update DirectXLink

Download the latest DirectX End-User Runtime.[3]

Crash right after introduction video[edit]

Fix Install missing Windows updatesLink

Your Windows is not updated. Install all Recommended updates via Windows Update.

Display driver has stopped responding with GeForce 5xx GPUs[edit]

This is probably a fault with the GeForce 5xx default voltage settings being set too low (one possible theory is that people complained about the previous generation of card having too high a power consumption).[4] You can underclock your GPU or slightly rise GPU voltage.

Fix GPU voltage tweakLink

  1. Download MSI Afterburner (it doesn't matter that you don't have MSI card).
  2. Go to Settings tab and tick unlock voltage control and monitoring.
  3. Go back to afterburner and increase slightly voltage - e.g. from default 1050 mV to 1100 mV.

Stuck in the Introduction to stockpile and trade[edit]

Fix Stuck in the Introduction to stockpile and trade fixLink

  1. In Steam right click on game in Library and select Properties.
  2. Under Local Files click on Verify Integrity of Game Cache.
  3. Launch game but do not load your save file.
  4. Go to Options and reset keyboard and mouse controls to default.
  5. Load your save game only by keyboard. Do not move mouse cursor at all.

Notes:

Information Based on workaround by Reigenlief from the Ubisoft forums.[5]

Graphics Glitching with Anti-Aliasing on very high[edit]

Fix Change AMD driver versionLink

For AMD: Download Catalyst beta drivers from AMD website. Ver 12.11

Launching the game crashes the computer, forcing an hard reboot[edit]

Fix If you are using Comodo FirewallLink

If when you launch the game your pc crashes and you're forced to reboot, it might be Comodo's Fault. To solve this:

  1. Open Comodo Firewall
  2. Go to "Advanced Settings"
  3. Select "Defense+" tab
  4. Select "HIPS"
  5. Select "HIPS Rules"
  6. Select the game executable, right click on it "Edit", allow everything.
Now it should work.

Other recommendations[edit]

  • Install game on your C drive.
  • Laptop GPUs are not supported at all.
  • Run game as administrator.
  • Verify Integrity of Game Cache in Steam.
  • Uplay should be version 2.1.1 and newer.
  • Make sure that your firewall is not blocking game executible files including Uplay software.
  • If you have nVidia GPU, turn off FSAA and VSYNC in nVidia Control Panel.[6]
  • Try different graphics drivers. Some reports say that 306.23 nVidia and 12.6 for AMD works.[7][8]
  • Set compatibility mode to Windows XP and run game as administrator.[9]
