Ageia PhysX
Aegia PhysX is a technology used to accelerate or process physics in games.
While Aegia PhysX can always be installed,
Some games require an older version of Aegia PhysX. However, the needed set of drivers is removed if you install the latest version of NVidia's PhysX drivers.

[edit] Official drivers
As of November 21, 2012, NVidia released a driver update resolving the issue. Install the Official driver and the Nvidia's PhysX Legacy drivers in that order.
This version contains all versions of the drivers, except for v2.5.2 - this is known only to affect Infernal. If you encounter a game not functioning right, proceed with the fixes below in order.
[edit] Alternate fix - copying one version
To manually install a version that isn't included in the latest official drivers, you need to run the PhysX installer included with the game.
- Look for the folder included in either C:\Program Files (x86)\AGEIA Technologies or C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\PhysX\Engine. Backup this folder.
- Install the latest drivers.
- Restore the backup, placing it in C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\PhysX\Engine
[edit] Alternate fix - merging two installations
Merging two installations is depreciated, but may be required in case you can't download the official drivers (which is not the case.)
To ensure that both drivers work side by side, use the following steps:
- Run the PhysX installation found in the installation folder of your game (which may be mandatory if the game requires it to launch). This will uninstall the existing driver, and roll you back to an earlier edition. It also breaks modern games.
- Backup the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\AGEIA Technologies before continuing.
- Install NVidia PhysX system software, version 8.09.04
- Return to C:\Program Files (x86)\AGEIA Technologies, and merge the new folder contents with the backup.
- Open C:\Windows\System32 and/or C:\Windows\SysWOW64. Sort by name, and backup anything starting with PhysX (keep track of where these files were.)
- Open C:\Windows\system32\drivers, and backup any physx drivers (either physX.sys or physX64.sys)
- Open C:\Windows\System32 and/or C:\Windows\SysWOW64 and backup the AEGIS folder.
- Install the latest Nvidia PhysX System Software.
- Backup C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\PhysX\Engine.
- Copy the contents of the C:\Program Files (x86)\AGEIA Technologies backup into C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\PhysX\Engine - overwrite when prompted.
- Restore the backup of c:\windows\syswow64 and c:\windows\system32 (excluding any registry key entries)
