Sonic Generations FPS Cap

2
Souzooka (talkcontribs)

Hello, yes, apologies for being obtuse. I've been looking for a way to uncap Sonic Generations' 60 FPS cap. Tried googling everywhere, using DxWnd + D3DOverride to see if triple buffering would uncap it, some Cheat Engine nonsense, unpacking the files looking for a solution, etc. etc. I did edit the comment in the hopes that someone would offer a solution (or perhaps an elaboration) on high framerate performance in the game.

Anyways, the user which posted the original comment is MOJ, but I haven't seen any particular explanation of his claims nor do I have any particular way to get in contact since his Steam account link is broken, unless he still has a Hotmail (Hotmai?) account.

Garrett (talkcontribs)

I have made a preliminary fix for this issue with the standard method but I don't have this game to check the result; could you try it? If it works I'll upload it to the wiki as usual.

Issues with the cover image of Evil Genius

2
Rose (talkcontribs)

Hi,

It looks like your cover image for Evil Genius is a PNG converted from JPG, which is against the wiki guidelines. Moreover, compared to the previous revision, the PC CD-ROM part appears to have been manually covered up, with the E, v, and l letters below also affected by the edit, and at least two white marks introduced in that area. Please try to stick to official covers unedited by the community.

Did you really need to make a page for Homeworld Remastered Edition and Homeworld 2 Remastered Edition? They both come in one game. I've already created a page for the collection. You should have probably brought up the issue before creating the pages

RaTcHeT302 (talkcontribs)

I am just filling red links on the homepage.

Hey there,

Is there anything to suggest 1 and 2 won't still be separate entries in your library after buying, or won't be separately launched from a launcher or anything else of the sort? In cases where games are sold as part of a collection but are launched separately, we prefer for each to get its own page.

If there's nothing to suggest that particular case, I would prefer to remove the collection page for now, to avoid confusion. Once this has been cleared up for launch and this is known for certain, we can make up our minds.

Thanks for understanding!

Blackbird (talkcontribs)

I don't know if it's some norm or something, but most 64bit only games have 32 bit OS not supported or something right before sysreq.
Found some examples
AC Unity has Requires a 64-bit system on top of sysreq
MGS Ground Zeroes has 32-bit systems are not supported on top of sysreq

command line arguments, silent storm

5
Mirh (talkcontribs)

I thought the information note in the command line arguments page could be enough to cover non-steam games added to it.
I mean.. Your additional paragraph is also good. But if I started to think like a newbie... that would be dispersive and confusing, imo

I'm open to other solutions.. but I have not atm... and for their sake I think a section for every game distributor could be enough (and non-steam games are common games after all)

Then.. another question.. why you replaced the universal resolution changer ...with 3d analyzer in the silent storm page?
Does it have any widescreen related feature?

RaTcHeT302 (talkcontribs)

I sort of forgot about talk pages, and I reverted that edit.

The main issue with the resolution thingy is that every text is partialy cut off, with 3DAnalyzer I was able to get the game on windowed mode but in order to get my native resolution to work with the game I had to use Borderless Gaming, I haven't tried any other borderless apps. I was going to replace the URES thingy with instructions on how to use 3DAnalyzer and Borderless Gaming instead of replacing a d3d9.dll or whatever it was, then I realized that I could had kept both solutions but I didn't have time now to write a proper guide for it.

"and for their sake I think a section for every game distributor could be enough"

I don't understand what do you mean by this, also I'm not sure what's not clear anyway, it's related to shortcuts added through this http://i.imgur.com/ECivexR.png probably more screenshots could be provided. I mostly added that solution because of how convenient it is to manage steam shorcuts like that while also being able to use my usual steam overlay and whatever else instead of having to rely to desktop shortcuts only.

Mirh (talkcontribs)

"their sake" means noob's sake. People like my mum for example

Anyway, I think we had better discussing this on IRC ;)

StarCraft Widescreen Resolutions - InsectLoader.exe works just fine

RaTcHeT302 (talkcontribs)

On Windows 8 it doesn't work for me. http://i.imgur.com/A3urLI3.png

I don't remember what I had tested, there was another widescreen solution, which kinda worked (not sure if it still was this), the game loaded, but there were graphical glitches everywhere, and then it crashed again.

I remember this working on Windows Vista or XP, but I don't remember what version of the fix I had used. It would be nice if there was a less hacked in/more stable solution.

RaTcHeT302 (talkcontribs)

I don't really have the time or patience to look for a similar fix, if you wish to you could just add the edit back onto the page.

Karasuhebi (talkcontribs)

Hm...that's strange. I'm on Windows 8.1 x64 and it works just fine for me. Are you running it with admin privileges?

Karasuhebi (talkcontribs)

Yeah I just ran InsectLoader.exe without admin privileges and that's exactly the error message that I get. So yeah, it's not broken. It just needs admin privileges.

RaTcHeT302 (talkcontribs)

As I said already, I don't have time for this, just add the edit back. I don't care right now.

Blackbird (talkcontribs)

Yes you did, but there were no uninstall instructions. Not any obvious ones that is. Granted I forgot to remove the downlaod from bit. My mistake!
I noticed you added it now so thanks!

RaTcHeT302 (talkcontribs)

When I read the original instructions I thought the INF files were part of the installation, but I was really tired and I was confused as to why those files were called "Delete_", so instead I accidentally told users to "Install" those files in the fourth step, you can see that in the previous edit. http://i.imgur.com/w6jvy5h.png

RaTcHeT302 (talkcontribs)

Wait hold on I messed up that explanation I'll re-write it.

Borderlands - Borderless Gaming section

Karasuhebi (talkcontribs)
RaTcHeT302 (talkcontribs)

It's unclear. I don't even know what it means, I'm not going to to re-write that.

Karasuhebi (talkcontribs)

Basically that when you use the remove borders feature, it'll stretch the image that's available inside the bordered window to make it full screen instead of actually drawing more pixels e to cover the entirety of your screen once the border is removed. Here, check it out:

With Full Window: http://i.imgur.com/4WFu95B.jpg In regular fullscreen: http://i.imgur.com/noBA4AS.jpg

RaTcHeT302 (talkcontribs)

It would be a whole lot clearer if you simply said that the image gets stretched.

Garrett (talkcontribs)

Have you tried other borderless programs to see if they stretch the game as well? (I don't have this game myself). Stretching is not the correct result. If all programs stretch borderless should be marked as unsupported with the stretching mentioned in the notes.

Karasuhebi (talkcontribs)

@RaTcHeT302: I agree.

@Garrett: I tried using Borderless Gaming but I can't get it to work with it. I've posted an issue in GitHub. I guess it should be marked as unsupported? :-\

I have no idea how to use that manifest thing, it's so clusterfucky and explained so poorly.
