KotOR II will support 1280x768 without the widescreen patch, even though it isn't on the list of graphics options in the game.

To activate this option, you need to go to your swkotor2.ini file (found in the SWKotOR2/ folder), and under [Display Options] change Width=XXX (where XXX is its present value) to Width=1280 and Height=XXX to Height=768. Then save the file and close it. The game should now run at 1280x768. 500 - 999 posts

questions

• does the steam version use a launcher to start? the launcher can be launched as an admin, hence creating an ini needed by the game, the game will read the ini as long as an user does not modify it, any user changes will not be readen because of the 4 resolutions limit, thereferore it being overwritten, would not patching the game lend to another resolution?
• the collection and the steam version natively work on win 8, does the collection work without the patch?
• why does the game crash on windows 8 as an admin? would downgrading help? would using the fan made patch help? (was a dumb thing on my own side, fixed it)
• no compatibility modes were required for my version of the game, did the us patch automaticaly fix these issues?
• would accidentaly installing the patch for the wrong version of the game break any admin modes? why does the game run and play normaly then?
• what's so different about the collection and the individual retail games? did they really change them?
