There needs to be categories for game types, such as FPS, RTS, RPG, flight sim etcetera.

Also, the current "System Requirements" template is completely inadequate for some games, particularly old games from the 90s in which they just had one set of requirements rather than the modern minimun/recommended requirement listings. The "System Requirements" double up the information and for those games that support multiple operating systems, having the default title being "Windows" is superfluous as well as exclusionary. Each part of the "System Requirements" template should be optional.

In terms of categories, we have decided not to include them. The reasoning is written up here.

I will speak to my moderators about the Windows 'system requirement' header.

Thanks very much for submitting this thread!

I agree with you about the categories. I think that is the best way to deal with them. I thought it would become a bit disjointed after a while.

It's possible to add other OS families - Windows is default if nothing else is supplied. |OSfamily = Mac can be added to change the header to a Mac category. We're in the process of implementing a [Template:SysReqMultiOS] template as well which we will roll out once it is complete.

I think it might be worth while implementing two types of templates. One for games from the 90s which had a single set of requirements and games from the 00s and onwards which saw a shift to minimum and recommended.

Yes I support this move to create another template for single requirement games.
