Two things, I would like to note.

First, in my saves folder, there are only the thumbnails. Perhaps the game stores the data within the pictures ? Second, the game hoards the whole Roaming/Games-folder for itself. Result from Tree:

e:\Roaming\Games>tree

Lista över mappar i miljövariabeln PATH för volymen AppData

Volymens serienummer är 123

Edit: We really need some formatting here.

Yes this game stores saves inside jpg files concatenating actual compressed save data at the end:

> binwalk save_1.jpg
DECIMAL HEXADECIMAL DESCRIPTION
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
0 0x0 JPEG image data, JFIF standard 1.01
9137 0x23B1 Zlib compressed data, default compression

Actually many old Frogware games do that. And I think I've seen such trick in other games too but very rarely.

%appdata%\Games is not "hoarded" by just this game. It's used by several Frogware games, at least these ones:

  • Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened - Remastered
  • Sherlock Holmes versus Jack the Ripper
  • Sherlock Holmes: Nemesis - Remastered
  • Dracula: Origin

Including localized folders for those games.

In later games they switched to %appdata%\Frogwares folder.
